VENOM 3 In "Planning Stages" According To Amy Pascal; Director Andy Serkis Expresses Interest In Return

Spider-Man: No Way Home producer Amy Pascal has shared a major update on plans for Venom 3, while director Andy Serkis has made it clear he hopes to return to the franchise for that third instalment...

Venom may have been a critical flop in 2018, but it was a massive box office success for Sony and proof for the studio that they could deliver hits without the help of Marvel Studios. Even Venom: Let There Be Carnage exceeded box office expectations in this "pandemic era," receiving much better reviews (though it has slipped into "Rotten" status following its Blu-ray release) in the process.

It's obvious that a third chapter of the franchise will arrive sooner rather than later, and a recent interview with Collider saw producer Amy Pascal confirm that work has begun on Venom 3

"We are in the planning stages right now but what we are focused on is getting everybody to come and see No Way Home," she noted, making it clear that it's too soon to talk about that next instalment. Venom: Let There Be Carnage set the stage for a number of different directions that next movie could head in, including clashes with Toxin and possibly even the MCU's Spider-Man.

Someone who is a little more willing to talk about Venom 3 is filmmaker Andy Serkis. His involvement with the franchise served as a major improvement over Ruben Fleischer, and the director told Metro the following when asked if he'd return for another movie. "Well, hopefully," Serkis admitted. "I don’t want to count our chickens. But yeah, of course. It was such a fun world to play in."

The interview took place prior to Pascal's comments being published, and Serkis seemed confident the Lethal Protector will return to the big screen. "I mean, yeah, of course. It’s such a wonderful world to play in. And I’m sure there will be [more movies], I’m sure there will be."

It's certainly going to be an interesting few years for Venom, but something we can firmly state is that Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock definitely has a future...regardless of which world that plays out in.

So he will fight another symbiote and probably evolve his relationship with Eddie and go on a date together

I enjoyed the first one more than the sequel, so for Serkis to return is probably a no-no from me.

The humor was the worst and they kinda ruined Carnage with the ''evil'' childlike backstory.

No more symbiotes (at least not for the main villain), although I can't think of any different Venom villains.

Jack O'Lantern comes to mind, or Knull, but Knull is too strong and big for a little solo movie.

@UXASIS - He could face against Demogoblin or Jack olantern like You said or fight against manwolf or captain Júpiter having a dilemma about killing him because John Jameson is not a Bad guy, he was mentioned in the first one as having an accident so maybe the cure turned him

@Dannywest - I really enjoyed a plot from a Carnage comic book.

It is about an FBI task force (made of Toxin (Eddie Brock), Man-Wolf, and others) who are on a mission to hunt Carnage down. Down the line, they get to an island, where Carnage is trying to kill Chthon who is being awakened by a certain demon cult.

It didn't have very good reviews, but the idea seems very cool to me, for an R-rated horror tv show.

@UXASIS - I dunno Carnage in the comics isn't that interesting or complex. He's just well known due to the cool costume and murderous intent. Without spiderman, I thought the movie did an "ok" job with him for a 90 min film. His powers were cool in the introduction but he didn't use any of those tornado like moves at the ending, which was disappointing. Symbiote verse has a lot to offer so I wouldn't mind another symbiotic villain.

please not Andy Serkis. The only way another Venom movie would be dope is if it was Spider-man vs Venom or maybe Deadpool vs Venom.

Not seeing the sequel and won’t see the third one unless it’s in collaboration with Marvel. Not supporting that nonsense. They’ve already ruined it for me. If these producers (Amy Pascal) was a true fan of the characters and actually cared about the fans then they would’ve done it the RIGHT way.

@WeAreDenim - Tbh I think they’d make it even worse. It would just be gross out visual gags and f-bombs every 12 seconds bc these movies are apparently written by 13 year olds from 1995

Film had no soul, I like Andy serkis but get another director, even though I think this franchise is beyond saving, with it without spidey, it’s way too dumb

Felt like I lost a few brain cells watching the sequel. Serkis....this ain't it. It started off OKAY. After Venom grabbed the mic in the club everything went down hill.

Keep Serkis away from it. I respect him immensely as a performer but his directorial efforts are not good.

Carnage was a success ($$$ wise - the film is a piece of shit) so a third one is coming no matter what. I just hope Feige can be involved as a favor so it’s a little less shitty.

This will more likely be even worse than the first one, someone at Sony get rid of Avi Arad please.

First, Amy Pascal says a lot of things. Its not official until someone that actually makes the decision says it.

Second, they need to completely reboot their approach to this franchise. The first two films were mediocre at best. They need a change in the quality of the writing and honestly acting as well. With regards to Andy Serkis, well he was certainly better than the first director, but I expected more from him.
