Bruckheimer Taps Straczynski For Video Game Movie "Shattered Union"

Jerry Bruckheimer at Disney Studios, is plotting a civil war movie with J. Michael (Babylon 5) Straczynski to adapt "Shattered Union," to destroy America.

In the strategy video game which was released in 2005, states secede from the U.S. and form their own governments that wage a civil war against each other after Washington, D.C., is wiped out in a nuclear blast and chaos ravages the nation. Game players control one of the warring group of states which are; the California Commonwealth, Republic of Texas and New England Alliance are 3 of the 6 or a European peacekeeping unit sent to reunify America.

Straczynski, martial-arts movie "Ninja Assassin" is out November 25th via Warner Brothers, and he is also penning a "Silver Surfer" feature at Fox plus a "Forbidden Planet" reboot at Warner Brothers too, so he's pretty busy.

Mike Stenson (Pirates Of The Caribbean) and Chad Oman will exec produce the movie at Jerry Bruckheimer Films, which is at this moment readying "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" for a Disney release next summer, based on yet another video game franchise as well.
