Hollywood is now actually taking some strides to adapt the iconic Space Invaders video game into a movie with Bonaventura onboard as director. The classic arcade game was released in 1978. Since then the game has been re-released on multiple platforms including Playstation. With the current trend of Hollywood favoring alien invasion films, it seems as if filmmakers are looking to keep the genre going. The game itself does not have a plot and Bonaventura, who also produced the Transformers trilogy, will have plenty of scope to invent a story for the film. There is no creative team currently assigned onto the film. With Hollywood seemingly out of fresh ideas, who knows what to expect from an adaptation of a game that features a tank moving from side to side.

Space Invaders will be cool if it ends up looking anything like the first 10 min of Transformers.

wow

so since the video game had no plot or story what so ever, no characters, and no names for anything, they can pretty much make any movie they want with any actors and characters, and any generic aliens, and then slap the name of this old ass game on it.

Hollywood is so ridiculous.

this is the most stupidest idea ever, [frick] you Hollywood

I am starting to get sick of every alien invasion movie in general. But before they take a rest, I would love to see a definitive alien invasion trilogy directed by three great sci-fi directors.

My idea is the first movie, Earth is invaded by an alien race who are colonising as many fertile planets as possible. They take out every military base & headquarters all over the world. With basically no defense, civilians are forced to band together and drive aliens off the planet. They take out the main spearhead of the invasion & the movie ends with humanity proceeding to get rid of the rest of them

Then in a sequel, it begins with humanity finally driving the last of the aliens off Earth & to stop any more aliens coming to Earth, they send a false message to the aliens homeworld saying that Earth has been self destructed. Then it jumps a couple of hundred years later, humanity has finally recovered from the alien invasion that nearly destroyed us. Not only that but we have set up plans to bring the fight to them. Thanks to a map taken from one of the aliens spaceships, we have found every alien colony and we take the fight to them. In the process of fighting them, we make allies on colony worlds.

Then the third one could look at the full blown war between the evil aliens and humanity & its allied races (who have also being saved from alien rule). It is a final last ditch attempt to stop the oppressive aliens and teach them a lesson once and for all.
