TOMB RAIDER Reboot Producer Finally Sheds Some Light On The Movie's Plot

We've known for a while that the Tomb Raider reboot will borrow elements from Lara Croft's most recent video game adventures, but it's now been revealed that an interesting new twist will be added.

HeyUGuys recently caught up with Tomb Raider producer Graham King, and he shed some light on what we should expect from the upcoming reboot with stars Alicia Vikander. While it's previously been reported that it will adapt the character's latest video game adventures, it sounds like the movie will add a new dimension to that by putting the focus on Lara Croft's attempts to find her missing father.

"Well this is kind of what we call a 'back to the roots story,'" he teases. "This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and i think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and i think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it’s going to be really fun making a film like this."

Lara's father - Richard James Croft - has played a fairly significant role in many of the Tomb Raider games, but her attempting to find out what happened to him has never been the focus of any one title. Taking things in that direction promises to be pretty interesting though, and you have to believe that Warner Bros. will be looking to cast a fairly big name as the hero's father if he's given a key role here.

Will Lara find her father in this movie or could Warner Bros. be planning to tell that story over an entire trilogy? We'll just have to wait and see, but this is shaping up to be a pretty good video game movie so far (and let's face it, those don't exactly come along all that often). Ugh all this bullshit about her parents again.

Make a movie like the original games! Crazy tombs with traps! Bad guys after the artifact! Inventive monsters and environments!

This is not difficult.

Another game to movie adaptation that should work easily with the source given. Action, story is pretty legit, especially knowing they're taking inspiration from the new reboot that came out.

Oh yeah, and Alicia Vikander is stupidly gorgeous and an amazing actress. This will be legit.

Cast Jon Voight in the role, and see how much of the general population can connect the dots.

...still not thrilled with the actress choice.

I reserve my over all opinion till I see pics/more detail on the movie.
