Last year, game developer Bungie brought out the spiritual successor to their hit game Halo (which is now being handled by developer 343 Industries), the MMORPFPS (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing First Person Shooter) Destiny. While the game was met with mostly positive reviews, certain elements (namely, the story, or lack thereof) were criticised for not being up to standard. Through the use of free patches and paid DLC Expansion Packs, Bungie has been slowly but surely bettering Destiny. Now, the game is set to receive it's biggest alterations via the upcoming expansion, Destiny: The Taken King.
Destiny: The Taken King will be the game's biggest expansion to date (and marks the beginning of the game's second year), providing a host of new content, gameplay changes and features (all the vital changes, such as increased storage space and an increased level cap, will be included in a free patch that launches alongside the release, to ensure fans who can't get the expansion will still receive the necessary revisions). Things such as increased level caps, a bigger focus on story, and an upgraded currency system will be included in the expansion, and one of the most enticing updates (aside from voice acting legend Nolan North replacing Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage as the characters robotic companion Ghost, whose performance was universally believed to be rather underwhelming) for fans of the gameplay is, of course, all-new guns to shoot hive-minded aliens, war mongering aliens, four-armed humanoid aliens, and time-travelling robots with... because, y'know, science?
Now, courtesy of Bungie 3D artist Matt Lichy via the ArtStation platform, we have plenty of hi-res, up close stills of a number of the new weapons that will be included with the release. You can check them out below:
The Telesto Rifle
The official description for the Telesto Rifle (which, admittedly, looks like it could have been inspired by Dragon Ball Z's Frieza) is as follows:
"An end will come, Guardian. Bring it about sooner with Telesto, a vestige of the Queen's Harbringers. This Fusion Rifle will attach projectiles to your foes and detonate with a delayed Void blast. Multikills with this weapon will drop Orbs for your allies."
The Omolon Rifle
The Omolo Rifle (or The Gun With The Asthma Puffer On The Top) has the following official description:
"Pioneers of energy weaponry, Omolon is the first foundry to experiment beyond the world of combustion ballistics. Sporting lighter ergonomic frames, Omolon weapons all start with generous base handling stats to build from. Omolon talent grids focus on behavioral perks over stat customization. Legendary talent grids are the only weapons that offer three perks: one as the first non-scope upgrade and two as a binary choice in the final column. Perk selection favors perks that are energy based and/or go beyond the weapon to interact with the wielder's abilities or status."
The Suros Rifle
The Suros Rifle (A.K.A. The White PS4) is officially describe as:
"Some say the best weapon for a Guardian is the one they can customize to match their intent. Suros believes in options--weapons that can be repurposed for a variety of combat situations. Suros talent grids offer two columns of two stat perks, granting more options for changing weapon stats than any other foundry. The single behavior perk is grounded in the middle of the talent grid as a focus point for the weapon’s core potential. If you want a weapon that can flex from CQ to ranged, quick to powerful, fast handling to hard hitting all with the swap of a few nodes: SUROS."
