Universal Reportedly Working On A New DOOM Movie; Actress Nina Bergman Signed On
Actress Nina Bergman recently tweeted out that she has officially signed onto Universal's upcoming Doom video game adaptation - these tweets being the first we're hearing of such a project. More inside...
Actress Nina Bergman recently posted multiple tweets revealing that she's signed the paperwork, and will begin working on a new film with Universal - That new film being an adaptation of the video game Doom.
Check out her first tweet below:
This wouldn't be the first time that Doom has been cinematically adapted. 2005 saw the release of the first attempt at adapting the game. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban starred in the critical and financial failure - The film was so bad that even its lead actor thinks so.
One fan asked Bergman if this version was looks to be better than the 2005 failure. The actress replied:
With this being the very first we've heard of the film, it leaves you wondering just how closely Nina read all of that paperwork that she just signed - since you'd think that Universal would not be on-board with the movie being announced in such a way.
Assuming these leaks are true; a modern adaptation will most likely focus on the recent, successful reboot of the video game franchise which released in 2016.
What do you think? Does Doom warrant a cinematic adaptation? Could a modern Doom adaptation break the "video-game movie curse"?
