VIDEO GAMES: MARVEL'S AVENGERS Reveals Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel, As A Playable Hero

Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) has been announced as a playable character in Marvel's Avengers, the upcoming action-adventure game from developer Crystal Dynamics. The newest addition to the game was revealed at New York Comic-Con today along with a trailer that shows her role in the original story.

Up until now, we've known what leads to the break up up the Avengers; a horrible disaster on A-Day results in massive devastation, the death of Captain America, the outlawing of all super heroes and the split of Earth's Mightiest. But what we didn't know is the person responsible for reassembling them five years later. As revealed in the trailer, it is none other than Kamala Khan who discovers evidence of a global conspiracy and seeks to bring the truth to light. But first she'll need some help from the Avengers. Additional plot details were shared as well.

With the Avengers disbanded & Super Heroes outlawed post A-Day, a vacuum was created. AIM – Advanced Idea Mechanics – stepped in to fill the void. AIM believes that unchecked power wielded by emotional humans is dangerous. They believe science is safer than Super Heroes.

With evidence in hand, Khan seeks the help of Bruce Banner as well as Tony Stark. Kamala Khan will be voiced by prominant video game voice actress Sandra Saad.  Describing the character a little more in depth during the panel it was explained that her "undying hope, resilience, and the fact that she’s a mega-Avengers fangirl who knows them better than she knows herself" is what makes Khan a perfect character to bring the Avengers together.

In addition to some background story, we also get to see some glimpses of Kamala Khan's gameplay, including her stretching and "embiggen" powers.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers will assemble on May 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia.

OT:

Joker was... interesting.

Lots of stuff of I LOVE. Some stuff was very strange.

I'll give it a 7.5/10. Better than *most* of the movies DC's put out so far.

Phoenix should be nominated for Best Actor, IMO.

@L0RDbuckethead - honestly im just supporting it because its so different. We need this kind of experimental film making with the superhero genre, even if the end result is just ok.

Very cool. This bit of story sounded interesting. Kamala's moves looked cool in the glimpse. I still hope character models are better quality at launch.

@RageDriver2401 - Neat video, and it's actually making me more excited for the Disney+ show. I wonder if they're going to go the "fangirl" route with her there. Spidey didn't come across as much of a fan of the Avengers before getting wrapped up in them, and even then mostly through Iron Man.

And being a superfan of the MCU Avengers has got to be kind of complicated, seeing as they weren't all that celebrity-oriented aside from Stark. It'd be like being a massive Seal Team 6 fan.

@Spock0Clock - in the mcu cap had been a "celeb" since the 40s and they were all famous after the battle of new york

@Spock0Clock - Not necessarily, they've had enough public adventures for them to have a bit of a fan base. I'm sure there are also a lot of off screen adventures they had, especially while searching for the Tesseract, where they interfaced with citizens after disabling the bad guys. It's like the fans of Batman who live in Gotham yet have never really seen him, other than maybe a glimpse or a pic, but they just know he exist and is doing something good for the people.

Looks like @Netto does have an inside source after all.

Any other hints you can give us?

I kind of love the world and overall story they seem to be telling, but I'm not sure there's anything about it I want to play. Isolated fights between cutscenes and quick time events on rails don't appeal to me at all.

I'm pretty much a sandbox whore, though, so that's my bias.

They put her in the game but not Hercules. Marvel only used Hercules for one game.

Keep sidelining him

I remember when they said there would be "Exclusive playstation content" I swear to god if that means my boy will only be on PS4 I'm gonna be mad.

I want to play this on pc so I can actually play with my buddies. I don't have PS Plus so I aint paying extra just to play with the Webhead.

@Mrcool210 - I dont think theyd make characters/story expansions exclusive to any platform (considering the longevity of the game is a selling point), but thats just me talking out of my ass. IF spider-man is put in the game (likely that if thats the case, his movement/combat will be more akin to the shattered dimensions type games rather than the open world ones) then I can see the costume of SMPS4 being exclusive.

@MadKingCipher - I already bought it on ps4.

@AbidNaga @Mrcool210 I think the worst-case scenario is some sort of timed exclusivity for Spider-Man - a month, maybe longer. I can't imagine they wouldn't end up releasing him on other platforms at some point.
