COMICS: Marvel Creators Not Allowed To Create New X-MEN Characters To Spite Fox
Fantastic Four is being cancelled ahead of the release of the new movie, and now legendary creator Chris Claremont (Nightcrawler) has revealed that writers and artists aren't allowed to come up with new characters because they will immediately become the property of Fox.
Some were sceptical about recent reports which claimed Marvel CEO Isaac Perlmutter had ordered the cancellation of the Fantastic Four comic book in a bid to damage the upcoming movie from 20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank. However, if you need further proof of the soured relations between Marvel and Fox look no further than here! Bleeding Cool have unearthed an interview with Chris Claremont - you can check it out by clicking below - and single out some comments from the writer about how things currently stand at Marvel in relation to the X-Men. Why create new characters that a rival studio can make money from? On the other hand, you would think that the X-Men comic books and merchandise received a boost in sales thanks to the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Marvel clearly don't see it that way...
