DARK PHOENIX: A New Look At Magneto And Jean Grey Revealed As Simon Kinberg Talks More About Genosha

A new image from Dark Phoenix has been released, putting the spotlight on Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) as director Simon Kinberg sheds some light on his plans for Genosha.

Like it or not, Dark Phoenix is fast approaching and Fox's final X-Men movie is going to be worth watching just to see how it all ends...or how bad it may very well end up being, based on what we've heard about reshoots and the like.

Regardless, a new look at the movie has now been revealed and, as you can see below, Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) appear to be practising using their powers in Eric's new home: Genosha. In the comics, this was a massive city ultimately destroyed by Sentinels, but this version appears to be little more than a camp in the middle of the woods.

"Genosha is something that I’ve always been fascinated by," director Simon Kinberg says. "It’s sort of Oz for mutants. As a Jew, its parallels to Israel and the notion of the promised land intrigued me even as a kid. I was looking in previous X-Men movies for a way to incorporate it. It was something I thought about for Apocalypse, but then went in a very different direction."

With Marvel Studios set to reboot the franchise at some point in the next few years, it's going to be interesting to see whether Dark Phoenix proves to be a satisfying finale to the series or if the liberties taken with the source material prove to be too much for fans.

Off Topic: I had the audacity to see those Endgame leaks. It's about 4 minutes worth of random scenes. And boi... I feel like my soul has been sucked away. I had no self control and I paid the price.

@MalseMarcel - Some of the things I saw made me go, "HA! I was right." Then some of the things made me go, "Crap, they were right."

Hopefully watching the movie in full will leave me feeling satisfied 100%, because now I have judgement lol.

@aflynn - Yes I agree. This will be the most confusing, controversial, convoluted Marvel movie ever. And for good reason.

Fassbender’s Magneto is one of the few reasons I’ll watch this. In my opinion he is one of the most interesting characters in the FoX-Men movies

@MalseMarcel

Prolly one of the more fascinating characters in CBM imo.

His arc prolly should’ve ended with DOFP tho.

So, it seems like there are serious Endgame leaks providing massive spoilers, and that means I really have to go dark now, with as little overall internet as possible. I'll watch the darn movie Wednesday at noon (second available screening here), and I will not [frick]ing get spoiled now. Just rewatched Ragnarok, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp with a friend who still needed to catch up, and boy, am I ever ready for the big finale!

You guys have a great week-and-a-bit, see you on the other side! 💖
