BATMAN: SOUL OF THE DRAGON Star Kelly Hu On Lady Deathstrike Return And Working With Bryan Singer - EXCLUSIVE

Bruce Timm returns to the Dark Knight's world for an Elseworlds adventure set in the 1960s: Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Set for release on Digital on January 12 and Blu-ray on January 26, it's a fun, pulpy adventure which finds Bruce Wayne training under a master sensei. It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. However, the lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past.

It will take the combined efforts of Batman, world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner, and Lady Shiva and their mentor O-Sensei to battle the monsters of this world and beyond!

Arrow, Phineas and Ferb, and L.A.'s Finest's star Kelly Hu takes on the role of Lady Shiva, and delivers an unexpected, exciting take on the character which will definitely surprise fans. Of course, one of Hu's biggest roles was Lady Deathstrike in X2: X-Men United, the 2003 movie that's still widely considered the best X-Men movie of all-time by comic book fans.

So, would she be open to reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

"Oh yeah, of course. That would be a dream," the actress told us. "I would love if that were to happen, but I feel that X-Men Universe is so vast. There are so many characters, I feel like they've barely scratched the surface [Laughs]. How many X-Men films have there been? There have been so many, but I don't even know how many more characters there are to still introduce."

"It would be such an honour to be able to bring that character back, but who knows what this next X-Men film will even be about! I kept trying to convince them that my character was not dead for X3 [Laughs], but they were certain she was pretty dead! [Laughs] We'll see."

There's no reason to think Hu couldn't return (just look at what's happening with Spider-Man 3), but given how much we've heard about Bryan Singer's behaviour on set during his time in the X-Men Universe, we had to ask where her experience working on the franchise was a positive one.

"I had an excellent time working on that film. It was nothing but a great experience for me," Hu said when we asked if her time working with Singer was in any way problematic. She then added: "Hugh Jackman is just amazing, and I got to do a lot of my scenes with Brian Cox, who is so fun," she revealed. "As serious as Brian comes across on screen, he's really a ball off camera. In between scenes, he's dancing, singing [Laughs], and you would never know seeing how he performs in his character, but as soon as they called cut, he was a different human being."

Now, we just have to keep our fingers crossed that Hu is given another chance as Lady Deathstrike. However, she's been extremely busy in the DC Universe these past few years...

Strange that the article uses Soul of the Dragon in the title, despite the article being about Bryan Singer and her being in one of Bryan Singer's X Men movie.

She for sure isn't wrong. Most X Men movie were the Wolverine show guest starring the X Men, plenty of more stories that havent been told.

She was good as China White, and she didn't really get much acting to do in X Men 2, so yeah maybe she could do it

I guess never mind, cause this article says nothing on Bryan Singer

Seeing Deathstrike fight Wolverine in the theater as a teen was the most badass moment of 2003.

Still holds up well today, X-2 is a solid movie all round.

@GothamSon - I lov3 X2,but thought Deathstrike was a waste. She was basically a no-talking zombie with metal fingernails. Deathstrike is far more than that, with her own motivations and is very talkative when fighting Wolverine.

She's a class act. Probably the only Fox-men cast I would bring back

I'd rather she just play Shiva in live-action.

Major misfire not having her in "The Wolverine", her ressurection could easily have been explained.
