GAMBIT Reportedly Starting Production This Winter, Right Before The Disney Merger Is Completed

Fox is reportedly doing anything they can to get Gambit off and running. The film, with a completed screenplay and a star attached has been looking for a director over the past year to no avail...

Gambit has been a burden for Fox, a project that has been so close to starting production multiple times with no success. Famed directors such as Doug Liman, Gore Verbinski and Rupert Wyatt have all joined and dropped the project over the past few years, citing creative differences all three times. With faith in the screenplay and Channing Tatum on board, Fox and Simon Kinberg are desperate to get the film going before the Fox-men close up for good.

According to Omega Underground, who has been very credible as of late, Fox is attempting to start production once again, with new crew hires reportedly coming soon. Filming in New Orleans and Big Easy Studios, the current start date is February 15th. It is worth noting that the site emphasizes the story as a rumor, so take the news with a grain of salt.

To be fair, it is plausible to assume that the studio is doing everything they can to get Gambit going. It still stings to see Channing Tatum in the 2017 SDCC Fox photoshoot knowing his film might never hit theaters, and though no one really wants to see this movie, fans are still rooting for you.

The only person from that photo that will be left standing come the completion of the merger is Ryan Reynolds.

@HeavyMetal4Life - hope not. I think original Deadpool was great. But I’m ready for a new actor to take a try. Maybe even on the tv side. The Deadpool sequel sucked in my opinion. I’m not interested in rehashed jokes from original.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I have the same feeling. I also woundn't be shocked if he sticks around and even makes a meta-joke about it in his next appearance. I get that spider-man was just a different circumstance for why they had him recast but it just seems like it will be easier for disney to start fresh with new actors unless they do some weird multiverse explanation. If they choose to go with that way, they could somehow explain in a very convoluted way how the x-men have existed all along. That route would be a more difficult one but it's not like the x-men universe's continuity is exactly straight-forward to begin with haha.

@AndrewHolland - and watch Disney throw that shit right in garbage as soon as the mergers official lol. I’m so glad once this is merger thing is done that Simon Kinberg will probably never have anything to do with a CBM again

@four20smoke - in this case (for lack of a better compariosn on my part) you wonder if even getting credit for it is worht it.

Once it releases, you gotta figure Marvel will have started releasing plans for their xmen. That will surely overshadow this movie.

@BlackBeltJones - yeah i know, just messing with you. In all honesty, it wont hurt anything and definitely wont step on anything marvel is doing as they wont be making a gambit movie anytime soon. I say turn the paper in and aim for a C. If not for the high achiever Nerds (cbm high horsers), at least do it for us slackers (cbm dont give a shitters)

And the movie that no one cares about just keeps giving. Or at least the stories about the movie that no one cares about.
