It may seem difficult to believe, but back in the day, Danny DeVito (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia) was a fan-favorite choice to play Wolverine on the big screen. What's even harder to believe, is that he's still a popular pick for the role in certain circles!
Some feel the diminutive actor is a simply a better fit for the iconic mutant than the 6'2 Hugh Jackman, for example, and Alex Ross would seem to agree.
The legendary artist took to Twitter to share his interpretation of DeVito as Logan, complete with signature mutton chops, hair-parting (though he's going a little thin on top), and adamantium claws.
DeVito is depicted earlier in his career here, with his supporting cast for this fake movie consisting of actors from Ridley Scott's Alien. Could the actor have pulled off this part back in his One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest/Taxi days? Again, he is technically more like the comic book version of the character in appearance than Jackman, so who knows!
Logan will (presumably) join the rest of the X-Men when the mutant team are rebooted by Marvel Studios, and fans are hoping for at least a slightly more comic-accurate take on the character this time. While the studio may take this on board when casting a new Wolverine, we reckon an actor with movie star looks who stands in around 5'10 (at the shortest) is the best we're gonna get!
