In a recent in recent article spotlighting the "Hard Candy" and "30 Days of Nights" director, David Slade had the following to say about his potential involvement with the Wolverine sequel:

As to what's next for Slade, he says Internet reports of him working with Hugh Jackman on an upcoming Wolverine sequel are premature.

"I can say that I've met with Hugh Jackman and he is a very nice fellow, but you never know with these things," the director says. "There are several projects I'm interested in now, and that's one of them."

In addition to starring, Hugh Jackman is also serving as a producer on the film, which is why he's being such an active participant in the choosing of directors.

But no matter who directs, Fox and Jackman seem intent on filming next year for a 2012 release.

I think Fox learned a hard lesson from the fan backlash of Origins. Jackman will not let it happen again, not with the Japan story on the line.

Considering some of the talent the script was attracting to the film (Kathryn Bigelow, Darren Aronofsky, Tony Scott) I'm actually VERY curious to see if this might... and I stress *MIGHT* ... not totally suck.

Unless if have somebody who can really stand up to Fox, it won't work. If you don't think he'll conform, then why did he say that he'd rather get shot than watch Twilight, then two years later David Slade's Eclipse came out.

Eclipse wasn't any better filmed than Wolverine: origins. Don't [frick] around with this, get Mcteigue(V/Ninja Assassin). You need a visual master for this saga, not the cheapest vampire director you can find.

As long as they don't make a BORIGINS 2 and not have half the X-Universe in it, it'll be hard to [frick] up... MILLER's JAPAN no brainer!

Still this is FOX, they can't even do a X-MEN FIRST CLASS with the actual X-MEN FIRST CLASS!!!!

I wont hold my breath.

ckal- After all the money they got from Avatar, from all their shitty CBMs AND any other film they put out yearly, they'll never go bankrupt. In fact, when has Fox ever "lost" ANY money?
ASSASSIN666
ASSASSIN666 - 9/21/2010, 11:28 AM
ckal- Jackman is Wolverine, and right now the only Wolverine in films. I would think he has quite a lot of input in to this film. Jackman is well aware of the negativity around Origins, he won't let it happen again. Take that insight and bet the farm on it. We will get a great Wolverine sequel

Intruder- Awesome sarcasm ;P

ASSASSIN666- Personally, after Jackman getting giddy like a school girl over the first film's plot and praising Gavin Hood to high heavens, the fact that he does have input for the Japan Saga doesn't blow my skirt up at all. And getting news that he's meeting with directors like Slade for it, doesn't comfort me either. Sure he's a decent director but not any better than Hood IMO. And Fox is still the ones signing Jackman's paychecks so all in all, i'm not all that excited. But i'm still on board to see what they end up with, either way. First Class... not as much.

Will the unity of Fox and X-Men ever end? I just want to know how long it will go on, so I know when to look forward to X-Men movies again.

I think Slade's an improvement over Hood, but I am still keeping my expectations LOOOOOOWWWWW!

@Shaman- Someone needs to give McTiegue another [frick]ing CBM!!! Wolverine would be a great option for him!!!

@Shaman

Have you ever seen Hard Candy? After you get past the brilliant performances from Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson, the film is shot beautifully and had EXCELLENT pacing. I've also been forced to see ALL of the Twilight films, and I can say without a doubt that Slade's was the best. I also remember really enjoying 30 Days of Night, but I was pretty faded so I can't really break that film down, I do however remember the action/suspense sequences being pretty cool.

Not saying that if he's in the chair that we have a guaranteed winner, just that he's certainly not a hindrance to the film...

FOX on the other hand...

Whatever. No more Wolverine movies for me (or X-Men movies, for that matter.) Not as long as Fox has anything to do with it.

Frick Fox!

Talontd- All i've seen of him is Eclipse and i prefered New Moon's filming much much more. Yes he did a decent job with Eclipse but he was seriously overhyped. That's why i'm dissapointed about him being considered over a visual master like McTeigue or Snyder. The Japan Saga needs a master such as those two and even more so now, after getting that piece of shit first origin film. I know he'd do decent with this franchise but i fear "decent" just might not be enough.

I haven't seen the new Twilight, but my wife loves the Twilight series, has all the books, seen all the films in opening weekend, etc. and she says the newest one is far and away the best. I personally enjoyed 30 Days of Night, and whle I've not seen Hard Candy, I hear good things. Based on all of the above, I'll give the guy a shot.

Call me crazy, but if the director hunt gets to complicated, at this point I'm willing to allow Hugh his directorial debut. Think about it, he does have a lot of respect for the fans and the character. Just think about it...
