It's no X2...That's for sure.

It's no X2...That's for sure.

It was better than expected but still not what it should have been.

Froma comic book stand point, the film was a fiasco. My biggest problem was the fact that they took a few characters and added them to a story they should be no where near...GAMBIT! Fox has a tendency to "take liberties" with characters and story lines and they usually take them to a point where the character isn't recognizable. Gambit for instance had no involvement with Wolverine until well after he joined the X-Men and they were not friends; they basically tolerate each other.

The film seemed like they took the rejects from the X-Men Trilogy and threw them into the storyline. It was almost like a roll call and Wolverine was their test dummy. They went character by character and "showed off" what they could do in a fight. In short, it came down to the fact that they didn't quite know how to include the fight scenes properly.

Casting was great. As I stated earlier, Schrieber was excellent and brought new life to Sabretoothe, who in the first X-Film, was a big, mute oaf. This was more like it. Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool was a perfect fit and I suspect we'll see more of that character. Will.I.Am did a decent job, he won't be winning an Oscar anytime soon, but good. As for Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, it was OK. I wish he (and many other characters) had much more screen time. He needed to be a bit older, my pick is still Josh Holloway from Lost. Not to mention, they don't call him the Ragin' Cajun for no reason! Where was the accent?!?

This was a fast paced movie and I felt that the characters needed more time; it all happened very fast, but you are still able to stay on top of what was going on. It was a good show and started off well, but just went downhill with cheesy dialogue and scenes that were a bit too over the top, even for a comic book movie. Did I hate it? No. I still thin X2: X-Men United is the best in the series, but it's a decent show. I'd check it out, it's entertaining and has some cool scenes, awesome sound, and Hugh Jackman's butt

Sorry, there are some inconsistencies in there. I took it from my blog and didn't change a few things out. My bad.

I like that he was a young cast for this flic, means we can get an older cast for a future movie with a properly aged actor. Vincent Cassel is my pic for and X4 Gambit. You have a good point when you say "... went character by character and "showed off" what they could do in a fight..." in a way. That is certainly how the first Team-X fight seemed, though each of those characters appeared later and had additional action scenes. 2 scenes were over the top, i.e. Agent Zero with his trick reload and Logan deflecting an optic beam with his claws. While I think your trying to say you liked the film , I don't get that unless I read your whole article, as you initially make it seem like a bad movie, only covering yourself with single statements like, "Did I hate it? No." I'm not trying to be an ass, as I always got love for my fellow X-fans, but maybe try to clarify and reinforce your standpoint a bit better :)

Thanks for the input Myth. I realized that this morning when I re-read it. I typed that last night at about 3 in the morning, and honestly don't remember typing most of it.

I did enjoy the show; it was better than I thought, but it got a bit "hokey" in some parts and a little too much. It was leaps and bounds better than X3 and I was glad to see a more "angry" Wolverine and really see him kick some ass.

Oh, and I've always been a supporter of Vincent Cassell as Gambit!!! The first time I saw that scene in Ocean's 12 I knew he was the man!!!
