X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Super Soldier Cast Pic

See the super soldiers of X-Men: Origins Wolverine in this cast pic, and hear what Hugh Jackman has to say about the reshoots.

By ComicBookMovie - Jan 19, 2009 11:01 AM EST

AICN received word from Hugh Jackman himself concerning the recent reshoots being done on X-Men Origins: Wolverine along with this awesome cast pic. Here's what he had to say...

Hey everyone! It's Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie - I owe it all to you guys!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we've got much more in store!

In the meantime, here's an exclusive shot of some characters you may recognize...

Cheers, Hugh

From right to left: Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), Remy LeBeau/Gambit (Taylor Kitsch), Logan/Wolverine (Jackman), Victor Creed/Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber) and Silver Fox (Lynn Collins). The Gavin Hood-directed prequel opens in theaters on May 1st.

they're all looking at the ground cause it's dramatic. Still begs the question, why wouldn't Deadpool have a mask on? It's his trade mark. It would be like having wolverine without claws.

Yeah i like that they all have downcast eyes..sets a sombre tone. most big action movies have pics with the cast staring all mean and shit! i like this better.

Deadpool only gets his mask AFTER the weapon x programme removes his cancer and in the process severley disfigures him. obviously that has not happened yet in this pic! and imo wont happen until near the end of this movie

I dont like that they are all staring at the ground. I think Wolverine dropped his contact and they are like "oh crap where did it go"? They are all like "its right there" and Lady Deathstrike is like "no its over here". The reason Deadpool isnt wearing a mask is because Ryan Reynolds is a big star and whats the point of casting a big star if you are going to cover up his face? Is it just me or is Gambit kinda short? Also I hope that Sabretooth grows out that big chops he usually wears in the comics. But seriously this movie looks great and I am really excited about it. Im willing to bet its the biggest comic movie of 2009!!

Wolvie is like twice as buff here than in the first x-men movie, looks like he went easy on the action between the two movies. Erm, not from what i've been reading for years! Cant blame it on old age either!

I am getting sick of hearing people bitch and whine about how how they make comic book movies. If you haven't gotten it by now that they always take 'creative liberties' regardless of how good the source material is, you obviously never will. This doesn't mean I approve of the things they change about our favorite heroes, it just means I accept it, which is what most of you should do, ACCEPT IT. Otherwise keep your damned 8$ and stay home when these movies come out, but shut-up. I say this with love, I really do, but if you don't like how they do these movies, take your ass to film school and make your big break in Hollywood so that you can perfect these storie's in your visionary way, if your not willing to do that, then give up on the genre or go find another site to stink up with your negativity. As for me, as one of the most die-hard X-Men fans in the world, I will see this movie opening night. Even though I see a hundred comic continuity problems just in the 2 minute trailer, I'm still gonna love it. And if the story is that bad, I'll just plug my ears and hum while watching my favorite comic character, Gambit, make his big screen debut. The photo above looks [frick]ing awesome! It just became my desktop background.

lol, in regards to the height issues: in the comics Logan is around 5'8, and Gambit is 6'5. I thought everyone had noticed all the way back in X1 that Hugh is around 6'4. When the first news about Kitsch playing Gambit came out, I pulled out that football movie he was in('Friday Night Lights' I think) and thought to myself, "This guy isn't exactly tall." But what can ya do, know what I mean. It does piss me off that Gambits eyes aren't the appropriate colors.

Sabretooth may or may not bulk up...but remember, when he first appeared and fought Wolverine (during the Marauders series in the 80's), Sabretooth looked almost nothing like what he does now...he was pretty lean, actually...he's only bulked up since - oh, the mid to late 90's?

Also...regarding Deadpool...he wears mask because of a jacked up/scarred face, doesn't he? I would guess something happens in the Wolverine movie to scar his face and, thus, make the mask necessary.

MarkCassidy - 1/19/2009, 1:31 PM
Yeah themyth i agree completely. I think people need to get ther priorities in order when it comes to these adaptations. They seem more concerned with the look than the character. I mean anyone who thinks Tyler Mane was a good Sabertooth is nuts! So he looked more like him in the comic..Big DEal! Does the fact that he was a nearly mute, zero developed, muscle for Magneto dimwitt not bother you just because he had "the look"?

They're all looking at the last piece of cheesecake, just waiting for someone to make the 1st move. My money's on Deadpool.

If Deadpool doesn't wear his mask it would be a shame but not the end of the world. I agree with TheMyth on this. Sometimes changes are made when adapting comic to film, some of these are needed and some are questionable, we just have to accept it. The main focus is on the characters personalities not the clothes. I think Deadpool is cast perfectly and in the end thats all that matters.

Go get that cheesecake!

I have no problem with character appearances, I just hope that the 'Leap from car to chopper' scene was included in the reshoots. If this movie proves to be the bizniz which other x-man is worthy of an Origins anyway?

The reason why deadpool does nto wear a mask is the same reason that wolverine does not wear his mask. They don't need it!!!!!!!!

obviously the photographer just took all of his clothes off and started doing a jig, and hugh jackman is the only one of the five who is manly enough to not break his gaze.

...and judging by the bulge in wolverine's pants, he's all ready to go...

Why are they all looking down? It's obvious. Hugh Jackman is the superstar / producer he requested that none of the other actors' eyes be shown on the poster, makes perfect sense.

And quit bitching about Deadpool's mask. It's the beginning of Weapon-X prgram you criebabies. And guess what, when he first joined the program, he didn't have the scars, therefor, no need for the mask yet. You bitch and cry and whine for them to stay true to source material, but apparently to most of you, that only applies where you see fit, which makes you no better than the [frick]ups that you persecute for butchering our favorite characters. Wade Wilson was a volunteer to Weapon X and isn't even a mutant. Weapon X genetically bonded him with Wolverines DNA to duplicate Logan's healing factor. But then the mutant DNA combined with the cancer in his body and made him horribly disfigured, creating tumorous scars on his dermis, and initially driving him quite insane. SO STOP CRYING! If we all go see the movie and he isn't in the mask by the end of it, then by all means have a friggin field day. But as for now, as an origin story, he is so far being correctly portrayed to the letter from what I've seen. If some of you were as die-hard Deadpool fans as you claimed to be, you would know this already.

CableUSMC: sorry, I very much doubt we ever see Cable in a movie. While I would like to, as he is one of my favorite X-Men, they couldn't do him with his origin. Movie producers as well as majority audiences don't wanna see time-traveling mutants in X-Men anymore than I wanna see Vampires in my Spiderman movie's. If they did ever use Cable, it would take a large plot to incorporate him and it would be best to keep his origins shrouded in mystery. Kinda like a badass gunman in an old western that comes strolling into town and blows all the bad guys to hell then leaves, nd we never even know his real name. The article I wrote on an X5 would be a good spot to bring him into the franchise in a hypothetical sense, as I based a large portion of the plot on comic arc that Cable first appears in in the comics. I'd rather see Cable in an X-Man movie anyway.
