XMO:W - The Critics Arent All Wrong--or Right!

X MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE is nowhere close to the debacle of X3 . . . BUT it's still not on par with X1 or 2. Especially the adamantium bonding segments. X2's flashback deployed more drama in that few second flashback than several minutes in this film.

Review Opinion

The film tried to do too much. Key scenes left me wanting more or worse - thinking, no this doesn't work.

If there is one character that should have been utilized more, it's definitely Gambit. There was a chemistry between him and Wolverine--and between HJ and TK.

Logan and Kayla's 'story' was really sweet but too brief. That's just a personal opinion. I'd happily sacrifice/shorten a few car chase, blow up action scenes for a little more interaction between them. Better yet, keep the action and lengthen the film by 15 minutes for 'both' kinds of action. [know what I mean?]

Blob and Wraith could have been left out completely and you'd never miss them.

It's unfair of me to bring Marvel canon into this for too many reasons to list here but I'm biting my tongue hard not too for key elements in the story. Wolvie canon-heads know what I'm talking about.

I do, for the most part, love HJ's portrayal of Logan/Wolverine. It's close how I portray him in my movie verse/AU fanfiction writings. I could have appreciated a little more portrayal of his internal struggle between man and beast. He seems a bit too victimized in a few scenes.

Liev's interpretation of Sabretooth is top notch. Somebody go back, chop Tyler Maine out of X1, insert Liev.

No way does the film deserve some of the low ratings I've seen and no, it's not better than Iron Man. Out of 10, I give it a 6.5. I'll go see it again and I'll buy the DVD.
