Next Installment of 300 Not a Prequel

It has been rumored that the next 300 film would be a prequel to the original story, but Frank Miller says otherwise.

It has been said that the next 300 would be set before the events of the battle of Thermopylae. This rumor has officially been proven false because Frank Miller has recently stated, “I’ve written a story that’s not a prequel. It’s definitely a further story in the Greco-Persian Wars, and it involves some of the same characters but I’m not sure exactly how far along it’ll get.”

This means that bold king Leonidas will most likely not make an appearance in the film. We can count on the return of Queen Gorgo, Xerxes, and Dillios. The sequel will most likely begin where 300 left off. It will depict the battle of Platae as lead by Dillios. Although as of now the rest of the story is a mystery. The film could include any battle or event that had taken place during the Greco-Persian Wars.

Frank Miller will make a new comic book series before they start production of the film. This way the fans will be able to know if the sequel will live up to the original or suck terribly before the movie even starts production. Zach Snyder has said that he will return to direct if Miller is on board.

This information leaves me with two questions, "Will this make the story better or worse?" and "Is Frank Miller starting to sell out some of his best works in comics in order to make more money in the movie industry?"

This gives Miller more room in History to create a great story. It has potential, but I don't know if there are any events that would be as cool as the Spartan last stand or any characters as cool as Leonidas. I think him not being in it will hurt the film. It also seems like Frank hasn't been able to write anything spectacular recently. I hope he can write something that can match its predeccesor.

Miller better be getting great deals and saving money like crazy. I mean... wasn't the whole point of the story that they all died? sure the Greco-Persian war is a huge historic event, but making more and more stories (if 301 does good in the box office, there will most probably be 302) to me seems like watering down the whole story. I see a milking Miller buying Ferraris.

Battle of Salamis (mmm Salami) seems out of the question since it is mostly at sea and I think no Spartans were involved. It would probably be the battle of Platea, which was the beggining of the end, where the greeks started to win the war and finally manage to push back the persians, and it happened barely a year afterwards, the spartans directed this attack. After that the greeks had the upper hand, so if it happens after that, there is no chance of showing the underdog story portrayed in 300 it would be a movie about how they crush the persians out of their land. Just some mindless speculation though, could be a new made up story that has no historic facts to support it.

The Athenian naval battle that happened during the last stand of the Spartans was sweet, but couldn't be made because it would have been mentioned in the first one. I don't know how there going to keep makin' these because the first was so inaccurate that some events are impossible to do.
