JOHN WICK Co-Director Chad Stahelski Will Be Back To Helm JOHN WICK 2 On His Own
Did you enjoy John Wick last year? Then you'll probably be interested by this news. Lionsgate have brought back the film's co-director Chad Stahelski to helm John Wick 2 - by himself.
Last year's John Wick was one of the best action movies in recent memory. Defying all expectations, the Keanu Reeves starrer was met with near universal acclaim from audiences and critics alike, and certainly looks like a cult-favorite in the making. It also had a decent run at the box office - managing to do enough business to justify a sequel in Lionsgate's eyes.
The film not only helped relaunch Keanu Reeves' career, but also put former stuntmen Chad Stahelski & David Leitch on the map as directors to watch. Now, Collider claim the former is set to return for John Wick 2 - news that will no doubt relieve fans of the first movie. Back in April, both directors were rumored to have been eyed by Warner Bros for an upcoming DCEU film.
While that never panned out, Collider revealed that the pair have been offered "a number of other projects" recently - so perhaps the rumors were true. The site didn't confirm why Leitch isn't returning too (he'll only be back as an EP), but hinted that he has something else lined up...
What do you think of this news? Are you happy to see Stahelski back for the sequel, or would you rather see both directors return together? And what CBM would you like to have seen them tackle? As always, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
John Wick 2 currently doesn't have a release date.
