20. The Zookeeper: Besides Hangover 2 this is the only comedy this Summer and we all know that every summer needs a kiddy comedy.

19. Priest: While the trailer looks epic it has sevral things facing it that could make it a flop. They are the facts that this is a scary movie, the second week in May, and 5 other CBM movies coming out this Summer.

18. Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World: It's going to be the same box-office as the first 3

17. One For The Money: All I know about this movie is that it's based on a popular book and it has no competition.

16. Winnie The Pooh: This film has a lot of competition plus it's in regular animation and not in 3D.

15. Rise Of The Apes: The Planet Of The Apes remake was a complete failure and that might be enough to kill this movie.

14. Fast Five: While the last one was the most successful but this is summer and it has more movies that it needs to beat.

13. War Horse: While Steven Spielberg has had successful in World War 2 epics this sounds more kiddie plus it's World War I and that the unpopular World War.

12. Cowboys And Aliens: While it will be a hit just not as big as a hit as the other movies this summer it will bring in money.

11. The Hangover 2: While it will not be as successful as Hangover it will still make money.

10. The Smurfs: While it's a popular franchise it is not set in prime Smurf settings plus the trailer just looks so [frick]ing cheesy and it didn't show any frottage.

9. Thor: One of the comic book movies will come out at the bottom and Thor isn't as big as Captain America and X-Men or the studio isn't as confident about this movie as WB is about Green Lantern.

8. Kung-Fu Panda: The Kaboon of Doom: I predict that the film will do the same a Madagascar 2 and the 3D will make it a bit more money.

7. X-Men: First Class: The X-Men franchise has made a lot of money on each film and Mathew Vaughn for Kick Ass could help it make more money then Wolverine.

6. Cars 2: World Grand Pix: It's a sequel to one of Pixar’s biggest films. Instant Money.

5. Captain America: The First Avenger: Throughout the last ten years CBM's have exploded and Captain America is the biggest superhero movie not to make it to the big screen. Also it is a major film leading up to The Avengers.

4. Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: While only Johnny Deep is returning that’s enough to sell tickets.

3. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2: It's the Final Harry Potter film and everyone who loved the Harry Potter movies will rush out to see it.

2. Green Lantern: I'm Trusting WB to give us a masterpiece plus it might be the beginning of the Justice Leuge movie.

1. Tranformers 3: Michael Bay can hopefully give us an epic conclusion to the Transformers series.

I can guess the top 3 will be

Transformers
Harry Potter
Pirates of the Carribean

I don't believe Captain America will be much competition. While most people have heard of the character, very little people outside of the fans know anything specific about the character.Even though it's leading up to the Avengers, that period setting is probably going to hurt it.

I think a lot of people will be skeptical about the last transformer, knowing how the second one was, I personally thought it was a cgi reck, so I wouldn't go to the theatre to see it.
I have a lot of faith in Green Lantern, I believe it'll be the hit of 2011.

Transformers in the top 3.....yeah maybe. But after that last one and no megan fox..... i wonder.
Potter will definatally do good cause its part of the last book of the series. And i have a lot of faith in green lantern. But a lot of it is up to marketing!

Ok here is how I break it down

The Big 6 are Thor, Pirates 4, Green Lantern, Transformers 3, Harry Potter and Captain America.

First off, all 3 Pirates movies have crossed the 300 million plateau, with the second one getting 400+ million. All the Harry Potter films have gotten 250 million or more, and since this is the LAST one and the grand finale, it will get 300 million. Both Transformers movies have gotten 300 million, the second one got over 400 million.

Again the Marketing does have a lot to do with it. Lets break this down.

Thor has 2 weeks pretty much to itself. When the trailer leaked, it was the top trending topic on Twitter, hammering that little Justin dweeb from the top. The positive buzz about the trailer and the positive buzz about it right now will help, I havent heard too much negative stuff about it right now. I expect Thor to open to 80-100 million, and I think it has a chance to cross 300 million. I dont see how you think the studio is not confident about Thor, Marvel and Paramount are very confident about it.

Pirates 4 has a few weeks to itself, opening on May 20, and it has always raked in the dough, and it has Memorial Day weekend the next week, and I think it will top Hangover 2 cause there really isnt a point to make another Hangover movie.

X-Men First Class I dont think will make a lot. Negative buzz already, if the negative buzz continues, and if it is bad, it will drop money wise fast. Also Hugh Jackman isnt in it, and Wolverine has really been the big draw with the X-Men movies.

Fast 5 might get moved, the 4th one was moved from June up to April and set an April opening weekend record, it would be smart to move it, though the previous 3 opened on that same weekend in June and did well.

Green Lantern will more than likely get 100 million opening weekend. Again, the big 6 are all in 3D as well, and the jacked up 3D prices help at the box office. Already has buzz cause of the EW cover, people know about it now. Not much strong competition in June for GL, it will own June.

No guarantee Cars 2 will be a smash. Just because it is Pixar doesnt guarantee it will make it. It opens the week AFTER GL, that may hurt it.

Transformers 3 has owned the 4th of July weekend, it will get a lot, the previous 2 did, it will again

Harry Potter is pretty much a guarantee 100 million plus opening weekend regardless, especially since this is the grand finale

Captain America probably will be good, but opening the week AFTER Harry Potter may hurt its dollar amount. It will likely be # 1, but if it gets 80 million, that will be a milestone because it opens the week after the highest grossing franchise ever.

Cowboys and Aliens will likely be a surprise hit, you have James Bond and Indiana Jones in the same movie, that will draw people to the box office.

Smurfs, why please tell me why, I hated the cartoon as a kid, this is up there with Alvin and the Chipmunks, Why please why

Harry Potter, Transformers and Pirates will reach 300 million. I think Thor and Green Lantern are wild cards to get 300, Cap will likely cross or get close to 200 million, I cant push for 300 million because it opens the week AFTER Potter.

well i think the audience like x-men movie so x-men first class will be a hit, green lantern will be a hit, transformer will be a hit cause a lot of people liked part 2, harry potter will be a hit cause is already being talk about, smurfs will be a hit cause of the kids, pirates will be a hit because people like the movies, cars 2 will be a hit because of the kids, fast 5 will be a hit because a lot of people like those movie, Kung-Fu Panda: The Kaboon of Doom will be a hit cause of the kids again, The Hangover 2 will be a hit because people saw the first movie an found it funny so they might think the same for this one, Winnie The Pooh will be a hit cause of the kids, spy kids 4 will be a hit cause of the kids, Thor will be a hit but is barley being talked about, captain America probably might be a hit cause of the time period. and Rise Of The Apes probably will be a hit depending on the trailers well all these movie depend on a trailer but the ones that don't are fast 5, pirate 4, transfomer 3,hangover2, Kung-Fu Panda 2,cars 2, harry potter 7, and x-men first class because these movie draw the audience when they hear the name of it.

I really can not see Thor getting to close to the top unless they promote the hell out of it. People just don't know it.
Pirates of the Caribbean will be big same as Potter. Captain America will do okay as long as they don't play it off as America saves the world during world war two, because the world at the moment isn't pro USA enough for them to get away with it I think.

twenty- if they do that it will be stupid that America saves the world because is world war 2 and every1 knows in world war 2 there were sides and country's and state work together so it wasn't just America that saved the world it was teamwork. and i know that you talking about captain America but usa never got in the war like towards the end of it.

Pirates 4, Transformers 3, and Harry Potter are sure to top 300 mil. It's becoming evident that negative buzz about a CBM spreads like plague and will put one out of the box office fast if it isn't good. And while we all like what we see thus far regarding Thor, GL, and Cap, we won't know until we see them. If they are in fact good, then all 3 could easily break the 300 mil mark as well, but if one falters, the internet will burn it down. I think so many CBM fans (not simply referring to only people who visit this site specifically) are so militant about how their movies are made, that the first sign that things are afoul provokes them in droves to illegally download the movies instead of paying. I think this is exactly what will happen with X-Men First Class, sooo many people already have a [frick]it attitude and are generating sooo much negativity that sizable movie going audience will watch it without paying. Someone said it best I believe when they said, "Comic fanboys will be the Death of CBM's."

I think GL will be boosted by the fact that its different than all the CBMs the general public has seen so far. Its not just Superheroes its a space opera. I think with decent marketing and a kick ass triler this thing will rake in the cash.

brazilianbatman- transformers made that much money in the second movie because of all the people that went to see it. and im still saying batman because how the last one did and how the audience liked it some till this day. and the next transformer will earn more money from the audience than the second did.

Interesting thoughts all around but very hard to make guesses about movies so far from release. Kinda fun to read though.

@tazmaniak

I have to disagree with you about Captain America. In fact he stands right up there with Superman and Batman. When he died in the comics it was news across the planet. Last time that happened was with Superman a number of years ago.

Captain America is a Marvel name but unlike most (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers) he was not created in the 1960s but pre-1940.

Tf2 bad movie.
It opened with 63 million on Wednesday.
200 million in the first 5 days. (Wednesday to Sunday).
402 million domestically.
It was not in 3D.

Transformers 3

Higher than the first two.
Opens on Friday.
Monday (07.04.2011 holiday.)
Will be shot in 3D.
Visual much better than the Avatar.
Variety of characters with different colors.
Tickets more expensive.

Transformers 3 Has More 3D Than Any Movie Before.
Transformers 3 going 3D where no film has gone before.
Citing they are not only shooting in 3D, they are breaking the mold with special rigs and systems they have "invented" just for this movie that will do what "no other live action movie has done before."

TF 3 will not exceed 750 million?
Get real anti-Transformers.
Transformers are back and now it's for real.
