The sequel to the crazy detective, Sherlock Holmes has pretty much what you'd expect if you saw the first one.
Game of Shadows is a action-filled, flash sequenced (meaning lots of quick flashes through Sherlock's mind again), humorous sometimes confusing mystery that follows Sherlock and Dr. John Watson who join forces to outwit and bring down their most cunning adversary, Professor Moriarty played by Jared Harris.
The casting obviously is led by Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock and Jude Law as Dr. Watson with Rachel McAdams reprising her role as Irene Adler - but she has a
much smaller role in this film. The lead female in this sequel is actually a gypsy played by Noomi Repace. Downey's role as Sherlock is outstanding once again - he packs the punch with a dry sense of humor with him, which is perfect for Downey. While Jude Law as Dr. Watson is a good fit, as well. Repace's character is a little strange, but gypsy's are supposed to be a little odd, right? While Harris plays the villain, Professor Moriarty pretty well - but I tell you... he looks like a cross-up of Conan O Brien and Ricky Gervais for some very odd reason... But the cast is very well-rounded and well put together.. no cons to be found, really. Oh, and Stephen Fry is hilarious.. especially in one scene..
As previously mentioned above, there are quite a few "Sherlock's mind" scenes with highly detailed scenes through his mind - a little tedious at times, but unique, as well. There is plenty of explosions, gun shots, fights, and so on in the action category so action fans won't be disappointed while
Sherlock provides a few laughs - especially in his disguise scenes.
Overall, the movie is well worth the price of admission - especially with
The Hunger Games and
The Dark Knight Rises as extra bonuses to get you excited before the movie even starts.
Game of Shadows gets a 8.5/10 - the 1.5 points taken off are due to the somewhat slow-moving plot which is also hard to follow at times, but other than that, the cons aren't easy to be found in this exciting sequel.
