I enjoyed the first one more than the sequel. I hope third one is better.
SomTingWong - 12/17/2012, 2:15 PM
bring on the 3rd! the 2nd is (in my opinion) underrated.can somebody please give me reasons why it`s not good? downey as holmes is almost as awesome as downey as stark.
can somebody please give me reasons why it`s not good?

Amy Adams? You mean Rachel McAdams?
jimpinto24 - 12/17/2012, 2:24 PM
Yes! I would like to see a third Sherlock Holmes film.
superotherside - 12/17/2012, 2:35 PM
I would love a new film! Both films were brilliant. Especially the second.
superotherside - 12/17/2012, 2:36 PM
LEVITIKUZ Who says she's dead? ;) Trust me, she's probably alive. Moriarty just wanted Holmes to believe she was dead.
Ashleyh8su - 12/17/2012, 2:37 PM
it took a long time for the first one to grow on me, but I absolutely loved the second one. do I want a third one? hell yes I do!
IwasGroot - 12/17/2012, 2:45 PM
I won't be watching this! You can fool me once...and then a second time, but not a third! The first 2 were sooooooooooo friggin boring!! I have yet to make it through either one in one sitting without falling asleep! I kept hearing everyone say how much better the sequel was, so I decided I'd give it a shot. I immediately regretted that decision ecause it was just more of the same. Not happenin this sir!
MrDonut - 12/17/2012, 2:46 PM
I liked the 1st one but the 2nd one felt pretentious and dead; personally speaking I think if they do make another, it should be the last of this pairing and it probably wont make as much money as the others... Hopefully next time Holmes hits the big screen it'll be a much darker/supernatural take on the character; think 'Se7en' meets 'Sherlock' (Ben Cummberbatch version)... That'd be pretty epic, a character like Holmes feels strange tailored for kids anyway...
Happy11 - 12/17/2012, 2:50 PM
Game of shadows wasn't that good, but I really liked the first one but are these the only roles that RDJ can play its getting boring.
AC1 - 12/17/2012, 2:56 PM
If this one moves back in the direction of the first film, then yes, I'd like more of them. The second was OK, but very underwhelming compared to the first one, and I think a lot of that had to do with leaving London for so long (they had to because it was Moriarty's story including the Reichenbach Falls, but I still think it was handled poorly). It also seemed to be missing a lot of the wit and charm of the first one, and was taking itself far too seriously. I liked the opening and the last scene though. But the first one is still the best.

Having said that, I'd rather the BBC get cracking with making new Sherlock episodes, because I think it's probably the best interpretation of the character ever. It's fantastic and I can't wait for series 3!
FilmsFan - 12/17/2012, 3:20 PM
Downey's SHERLOCK HOLMES films are pretty good action-adventure spy-thrillers with decent plot... Till u end up seeing BBC's SHERLOCK with Benedict Cumberbatch (Hobbit & Star Trek -2) as Sherlock Holmes & Martin Freeman (Billbo in Hobbit) as Dr. Watson... & then you want to forget RDJ film cuz then they are an insult to Sherlock Holmes name!

Of course they have Action & stuff to sell the film & spectacle but BBC's SHERLOCK is most probably one of, if not THE, BEST tv shows I've seen!
Pure Class & Quality!

& I feel 1st & 3rd (& last) episode of Series-2 are just unprecedented level of stuff in entertainment world & are better than most spy trillers & if put on big screen (as they are 90 mins long) they'll certainly be up for Oscars!!

& Robert Downey's English accent isn't up to mark in SH films, especially second!

He's a Great great actor & I love him even in these films & as Tony Stark but Benedict is just beyond & that series is unbelievably great!

I'll still see 3rd one & will probably enjoy it a lot as I've enjoyed last 2... Till I see the 3rd series of SERLOCK!
But Why can't BBC's team write the script for a reboot of Sherlock & now Benedict & Martin are big enough stars .. Plus series is extremely popular... It'll surly earn ton of cash for studio & will be great films as well!!
Why can't this happen!!!
Ethic - 12/17/2012, 3:57 PM
Really enjoyed the style of the first one, thought the second was good enough, then I found the series Sherlock and it utterly blows these away.
Cumberbatch and Freeman is where its atttt!
TheAbomination - 12/17/2012, 4:07 PM
"It is a high priority for the studio."

That's right. Because it's not like WB has other franchises worth putting into development...

JredTheRed - 12/17/2012, 4:41 PM
Can someone plz explain something to me? In the quote "I don’t want to go into details about [characters returning], I just want to say...", why the brackets? I see this used often and never fully understand since the words usually fit right in the sentence. Is it something like he actually said "...details about THAT..." and the brackets are just referencing what "THAT" is, or is it trying to put some sort of emphasis? If this is a dumb question, my bad, just always been a tad curious and prob would've asked sooner had I not been afraid it was in fact a dumb question.
IDKwhatToChoose - 12/17/2012, 5:03 PM
Love Downey as Holmes.
marvel72 - 12/17/2012, 5:59 PM
didn't like the first film didn't like the second film, couldn't give a shit about a third film.
Ceejay - 12/17/2012, 8:52 PM
First there is no such word as threequel, the word is "trilogy"!

Secondly, these films are utter crap contrived for retards who can only consume movies if they're centered on action, comedy and spectacle.

Basically Sherlock for the cerebrally challenged!
armagedom - 12/17/2012, 11:55 PM
no thanks!!!
ChanceX74 - 12/18/2012, 2:46 AM
@JredTheRed: That's exactly what square brackets are for in English grammar in certain usage. They are used to enclose explanations, missing material, indicate omissions ("[...]"), and when original text has been modified for clarity. He probably did say "that" but the author's preceding statement includes two subject focuses, only one of which was likely even present to trigger the response:

"When asked if certain characters will be returning for Sherlock Holmes 3..." and "...teased a new location for the threequel".

"That" could be interpreted as pertaining to either; a reader would be left wondering if he doesn't want to talk about any returning characters or the new locations. If the author had only mentioned returning characters to introduce the quote then no bracketed alterations would be needed.

Most people would invoke common sense, but rules of grammar and communication exist to remove any doubt and minimize miscommunication. Unfortunately, theses rules seem to be lost on most people these days.
SLK - 12/18/2012, 5:53 AM
Yes, please! Downey Jr. is the current Holmes! [frick] alien-faced Cumberbatch and others.
dancingmonkey08 - 12/18/2012, 5:55 AM
yes I want one more, at least one more. We need our yearly RDJ dose! If we get Iron Man 3 next year, Sherlock Holmes 3 needs to be out for Xmas 2014!

In the second movie, they loosely adapted the Final Problem, why dont they loosely adapt the Adventure of the Empty House where they explore the aftermath of Sherlock faking his death and the battle against Moriarty's lieutenant, Colonel Moran. He may not be as dangerous as Moriarty when it comes to intelligence but as my friend said, now that Moriarty is dead, the leash has come off and the wild dog is free to attack. He can be enacting a contingency plan in the event that Moriarty is killed, the movie can be about the legacy of Moriarty

I hope RDJ doesnt just continue on with Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes movies, because I love his other performances too. I watched the Soloist the other day and RDJ was fantastic in it. So in addition to his awesome Sherlock and Iron Man movies), I would love to see him doing other movies too. But I do want to see him in at least one more Iron Man movie after Iron Man 3, and two more Avengers appearances please!
dancingmonkey08 - 12/18/2012, 5:57 AM

You obviously have no good taste in tv shows, because Cumberbatch is amazing in the brilliant Sherlock. Im just happy we are getting so many different and varied Sherlock performances from two fantastic actors
JCoyle - 12/18/2012, 6:43 AM
I LOVE both the films and Sherlock Holmes as a character so i cant wait! I was gutted they killed off Irene Adler though, they made a huge mistake with her because if they would of done the first film about Sherlock and Irene and Irene beats him then the second film could of been the film we know as number one and then Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows would of been the third which would of been okay to ill her off then and they would of got another film out of it!
DaneE5R - 12/18/2012, 9:00 AM
Benedict Cumberbatch is Sherlock Holmes.

I thought the first one was numbingly boring. The second one was absolutely fantastic. I really don't get how anyone could consider it boring, it was stuffed with action; and beautifully shot action, at that.
gmckoy - 12/18/2012, 10:21 AM
i liked both, the 1st was better though...

i will watch a 3rd, lets see what happens, downey is one of my favs so im there
twizt - 6/18/2013, 1:36 AM
For starters Downey is the best Sherlock Holmes. Those of you who do not like mystery/thriller movies stop commenting. If you think it was boring then your intellect is truly petite. For the filmsfan guy, his English accent may not be tip top shape my lad, but who the f cares. Seriously, at least I can understand what he says. Also beats a completely different language film with subtitles. Rather a damn good actor who can speak clearly, than a not so great actor who speaks more precise English. Also the writers you wish to write the script... the movie needs spiced up not completely put back into its old days. There is a new era of movies, which in turn means new writers who can bring life into old popular movies and shows. As for the ceejay guy... your lack of imagination and intelligence sickens me. You have the specifications of the movie wrong. By the way you say it I must guess your the kinda how did you say it? Retard who... watches all movies except action comedy and spectacle movies? Your critical accusations are highly flawed and plain unjust. All you who think BCumber is something I would never agree upon. For a few reasons. Doesn't fit the role as well as Downey. Cumberbatch is on the tv shows only because Downey doesn't have time for shows. I've seen the shows and if you was to picture Downey in Cumbers' position, Downey clearly is more elegant for the role. Mystery/thriller/action/adventure/comedy/romance/drama/etc. I love it all. Give these people what they need to see, what you can give them. They don't know what they want until they see it. Back in the day the most famous movies, they created there own movies. They never received advice from people. Who knows maybe one day someone will make a movie from there own mind alone. Maybe that movie will become the greatest movie liked by all. Not just by a few here and there all because you go with what a few peoples suggestions. Even though they're not clear. Why? Because they have no IMAGINATION
