Producer Dan Lin Offers An Update On SHERLOCK HOLMES 3
Dan Lin gives an update on Warner Bros.' next Sherlock Holmes movie, saying that a script is still being written by Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) and that the threequel is a high priority for the studio.
Speaking with Collider, producer Dan Lin offers an update on the next installment in the Sherlock Holmes film series, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Last year, shortly before the release of the second film, A Game Of Shadows, Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce was hired to write the script for a third movie. Since then, however, we have heard little on the film's development. Game Of Shadows grossed nearly $544 million at the worldwide box office (more than the first film), so a follow-up has been expected. Lin confirms that a script has yet to be turned in, but it's still a high priority for Warner Bros. "It’s still in development. Drew Pearce is working on the script and Downey, as you know, is still finishing Iron Man 3 so we’re waiting for Downey to finish that movie and to get a script from Drew. It is a high priority for the studio and all for the filmmakers involved… We want to make the right movie. We got a great response to the second movie and frankly the Moriarty character sets such a high bar that we want to make sure we’re telling the right story for the third movie." When asked if certain characters will be returning for Sherlock Holmes 3, Lin remained tight-lipped, but teased a new location for the threequel. "I don’t want to go into details about [characters returning], I just want to say that there will be some new locations, new settings for the third movie. Just like Sherlock for the second movie took us in a new location; the third movie will take us to a new location as well." Do you want to see another Sherlock Holmes movie with Downey and Law?
