Fans of MMA and Horror films have something fun to look forward to next week. On February 2nd, HellKat, a film which centers around a fighting tournament in Hell, drops on Digital and DVD.

The movie is about an ex-MMA fighter who takes part in a Hell tournament to save her child. The movie features a variety of beasts which require stunt work and incredible prosthetics.

We recently spoke with the lead actress of the film, Sarah T. Cohen (Jurassic Island, Deadly Waters), and she told us about how each of the creatures is based on a different animal type, such as pigs, wolves, and bees. She went into detail about the amazing prosthetic work and make-up art that went into bringing the monsters to life, particularly with the budget they had available.

Listen to Sarah tell us about HellKat below with this portion of the transcript included beneath it.

"So the make-up and special effects for this; it's a ridiculously low budget movie, and considering the budget we had, it's unreal. The quality of everything, the different monsters, all the makeup artists were phenomenal. They did these unbelievable templates inspired by different creatures. A pig inspires one; one's inspired by a wolf, all these different animal creatures. And that's actually incorporated into the fight choreography, trying to encapsulate those characters and animals.

And it's unbelievable; we filmed this in like seven or eight days, and you'd be doing up to 20 or 30 scenes a day. And some of these guys getting the prosthetics on for these characters got them done in like half an hour. It's insane the speed and quality at which they did this. And there's also a toxic one, there's a bee one, and I really like that it's male and female animal type fighters and they have different characters. It's really cleverly done. It's so hard to explain because it's this limbo world where things aren't quite real."

If you like what Sarah has to say, we've also included a couple of our other chats in which we discuss her upcoming projects, Jurassic Island, Deadly Waters, and The Gardener. Be sure to check out the trailer and synopsis for Hellkat and share your thoughts in the usual spot!
