ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Is Returning To Theaters Later This Month Confirms Producer James Cameron

Movie theaters across the globe are struggling in a big way due to COVID-19, and Avatar director James Cameron has confirmed that his passion project, Alita: Battle Angel, is returning to the big screen.

Alita: Battle Angel was released last year, and despite mixed reviews, it still earned an admirable $404.9 million at the worldwide box office (on a $150 million - $200 million budget), meaning it was a moderate hit. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if a sequel is in the cards, but could that now change?

Well, in an effort to help out struggling movie theaters, producer James Cameron has taken to Twitter to confirm that Alita: Battle Angel is coming back to the big screen on October 30th.

While it reportedly remains unsafe to visit theaters, there are plenty of people happy to do so thanks to the safety precautions which are being put in place. As a result, it's easy to imagine fans of the movie taking advantage of the opportunity to catch this live-action adventure in theaters one more time.

Should it perform well enough, the likelihood of a sequel happening could increase.

Time will tell on that front, but Alita: Battle Angel does have franchise potential, something Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez have hinted at on multiple occasions. But since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, it's now a decision that's going to be down to the House of Mouse.

Check out Cameron's Tweet below:

I know this is a unpopular opinion, but i fking hated this movie. It's visually nice, good world building, great cast, but it got me bored to death and the script is a mess.

More movie studios should be re-releasing their movies to keep these theaters afloat. If Marvel re-released Civil War or something... Oof. They could stay open at least until WW comes out (unless that delays, which is probable)

@dragon316 - There's a wee bit difference between starving & going out to have fun.

@dragon316 -

1) Food is a necessity and going to a theater is not.

2) Grocery stores are far larger and open than theaters

3) What the [frick] are you doing in a grocery store that would have you standing around in there for more than 2 hours?

I know I'm in the minority, but I loved it. It's nowhere near perfect, but it just goes great with my preferences & sensibilities. So I'm tempted to go watch it again, even if this won't really change the sequel chances.

I've said it before, but anyone interested in the property should watch the classic OVA. It's great cyberpunk fare in that gritty, dirty, run down look '90s anime had.

Great, would really love to see a sequel to this film. Great movie with some incredible world building and visuals and some great acting from Salazar. One of my favorite movies from last year.

So weird that of all films, this got a cult following. It's fine, but nothing special.

Whenever I see this movie resting on my bookshelf, I have to fight the urge to watch it immediately. I don't always win.

Some people just don't like it. That's fine.

But fvck I hope there's SOMEthing in your life that is as perfect and joyous as this movie can be for a lot of us fans.

#AlitaArmy represent! Our numbers grow every day. As you read this, one million babies were born that will grow up loving this movie.
