As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.

Awesome, yay an Alita article. I just shared these thoughts on another article: I saw Alita: Battle Angel this evening and its an excellent film, I HIGHLY recommend people go see it. As of right now, a 9.5/10 for me and the best movie of the year by far.

The visuals are truly incredible; fantastic world building, fantastic technology (we kind of get a first tease at James Cameron's underwater motion capture technology he created for Avitar sequels), and some fantastic action. The 3D was seamless, though as someone who doesn't watch films in 3D, it took a little while for my brain to fully adapt to it. There were also a few neat nods to Terminator that I enjoyed.

I was fully immersed in the world and felt like I was there for the story. The main character, Alita, is now by far one of the most badass, strongest female characters ever in film, joining the ranks of Sarah Connor and Ripley; I can see why James Cameron so badly wanted to bring this property to the big screen, because Cameron loves these stories that have strong female leads.

Rosa Salazar did a great job bringing this character to life and humanizing the android. Christoph Waltz also was great too, and I also thought Alita's boy friend Hugo was played well and I liked their relationship, it felt pretty real. A few of the other characters I didn't care for as much, some were there just for muscle essentially. But there was no one bad, and I think one of the few flaws for this movie would be that some of the villains had generic bad guy dialogue at times. Otherwise, excellent movie and I can't wait to see it again. Very much a 'part 1' movie, so hoping we get a sequel. Definitely go see it!!

@BlackBeltJones - yeah best movie of the year for me too, though I haven't really seen that much. You could tell that Cameron spent two decades working on this film.

Rosa just entered the ranks of all time badass strong female characters, a real badge of honor! A star indeed. Need more!!

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yea hell it was an okay movie though, Super if anyone is interested. Just good to see him acting again I have no idea how his role will work in TG2. He wil obviously have to be playing a role that is fit to his condition since he can hardly speak.

Loved every second of it, this is how you adapt a manga! Now do Dragonball Robert Rodriguez! Lol just kidding, but if Endgame doesn't win for best vfx then Alita has to! The action was intense and fast paced, but you knew exactly what was going on (nudging transformers)

@bobevanz - yeah I imagine that it will be a battle between Endgame and Alita for best VFX next year.

Ending left me wanting more. Great flick! Surprised to see one of my favorite actors make a cameo. Fingers crossed for a sequel

@theusualsuspect - my friend and I both thought it was really good. As soon as the movie ended, he asked me if there would be a sequel. Really hope we see her take the fight to Zollem (or whatever the floating city is called), and hope we see some more footage of Alita fighting in the past!! The battle on the moon and going up the city were pretty sick!!

Why was the article about Arnie Hammer being in talks to play Batman deleted tho? Did anyone else see that?

@HeavyMetal4Life - Dammit I was hoping it was because of some legal notice from WB which would make it seem more likely. He is a great candidate though has the height and playboy looks and charm. Why people are thinking that Robert Pattinson would make a good fit is beyond me, he is a good actor but far too damn puny.

I had a FANTASTIC time at the movies with this one. I hope it has some Jumanji legs, I would hate it if Alita doesn't get a sequel.

If only it was an R-rated movie, then it could have been even better...
ImmovableForce

@N3lLiel - I thought it was R rated. O_o
It was as gory as it needed to be imo. It was a great balance of darkness and light. What I wish Star Wars had been able to maintain.

@N3lLiel - How does an R-rating establish whether a movie is going to be better or not?

I loved this movie. Like any film, it has flaws. My brother is a nitpicker and couldn't get past some of those, so he came out a bit disappointed. I noticed them, but I didn't let them bother me. Most of them were things you might wonder about while you're watching it, but they COULD have reasonable explanations that just weren't provided. Such as, why the roboticist chose not to remind Alita about the dangers of vehicle traffic to reinforce it in her mind so she doesn't run out in traffic a second time. Little stuff like that.
