Oldboy follows the story of an advertising executive who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker and ultimately to an illusive man who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

Oldboy stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set to hit theaters October 11th.

A film made by a disgusting, backward thinking, and talentless racist whose sole purpose as a film maker and as a human being has become stirring the pot concerning race relations.

Hate to bring negativity to CBM, and very rarely do, but Spike Lee makes me sick. I wish people would boycott this bigot.

Why does Spike Lee refer to his films as "joints"? Is that supposed to be clever?

What's everyone's beef with Spike Lee, did he shit on your white privilege pedestal's or what? Its convenient that a group of white people find him abhorrent, but say nothing of the racist, bigoted, euro-centric plight that is Hollywood as a whole..
@OptimusPrimeTime - Spike Lee is anything but talentless.. I'm sure you have no perspective to stand on to back up your claim, so I'll cut you some slack for that one.

To label Spike Lee a "racist" for making black oriented films in a market that really had no other director do what Spike Lee has done, would be the same as labeling Martin Scorcese racist for not having a modicum of "Black" actors in his films.. For one, its a ridiculous claim, and two, you have to understand the audience each man is attempting to capture.
I sure hope you people can grasp that.

It's plainly obvious most of you are white and are commenting from a position of privilege that grants you the ability to rag on a "black man" who so chooses to shoot films with black actors who OTHERWISE, may not have had the opportunity to be cast in Major Studio Feature Films..
Btw, Lee has always casted Minority actors in his films, whether black, italian, puerto rican, or otherwise.. its his shtick, and has been his shtick for over 25 years. Get the [frick] over already

One thing, @Negrodamus, aside from your incredibly ironic username, I am italian. Anyways, I recommend you review Spike Lee's rant on Django Unchained before you say labeling Lee a racist is not proper.

Spike Lee is the most one sided director ever, he may be a good director but damn he is one sided when it comes to his arguments over film. Irony to the point that he is complaining about Quentin Tarintino's acurate portrayal of history in Django Unchained he has taken hits at many other of his films. Ironically the fact Samuel Jackson in his film Oldboy is going to be getting tortured in one scene in the film by white man Josh Brolin in one of the most brutal torture scenes in the original film. I wouldn't call him a racist but I would just say he is jealous at the success of other better known directors than him. He has gone down hill over the years too.

Spike Lee makes a particular kind of film. Just like Nolan makes a particular kind of film and Whedon, and any noteworthy director. If you are somehow offended or complaining about Spike's statements on Django then you obviously aren't black and don't understand what he's saying. While I don't agree with his statements, I understand his mind set.

Spike Lee is the basically backward thinking type who thinks he cant be racist because hes black.

What? I never took Spike for a racist, but it seems on this site some guys make excuses to not go see a movie with a black person as the protagonist, or if it was directed by one. It could be my mind playing tricks or something, but its very sad if true. I'll check out a movie or comicbook with an all white cast, as long the story good, its a shame some guys wont vise-verse. The new 52 is retreading back to its old ways with less diversity than it had when it first started. I guess we can't go back to the good old 90's when comics were at its best.

Mars Blackmon has been battling "Little-man's decease" since the early '80's. By the way.., she had it, all of it......, all of Marvin down in 2B that is, while Spike was interning on a pre-Jordan Nike commercial. :-P

@RockNRollFrankenstein I can give plently, and at least 5 people have commented here saying Lee is racist, why comment to me?
