DETECTIVE PIKACHU "Audition Video" Provides A Jaw-Dropping Look At Some Live-Action, Fan-Favorite POKEMON

There's a huge amount of positivity surrounding Detective Pikachu and the movie being a hit at this point seems like a certainty. For fans, one of the most exciting things is obviously getting to see so many fan-favourite Pokemon in a live-action setting and this new featurette provides a detailed look at many of them.

We also get some fresh footage from the movie, including an epic shot of Mewtwo right at the end!

The highlight may be seeing Magikarp in action, while Ludicolo looks like he will almost certainly end up being a breakout star based on how hilariously adorable he looks (there's also been a lot of him in merchandise for the movie).

If Detective Pikachu is a hit, we can expect more live-action Pokemon movies to follow and there's an awful lot Legendary Pictures can do with the franchise to ensure it dominates theaters for years to come. The fact it's taken this long is a surprise and we may be looking at the film which stands a chance of breaking the ongoing video game movie curse.

Check out this promo below and let us know your favourite Pokemon down in the comments section.

I was into Pokemon for only like two months of my childhood, and yet the nostalgia here is EXTREME. Didn’t know I remembered any of it but I recognised most of these characters. Squirtle still my favourite.

@heisei24 - not to downplay the effects wizardry, but it's a heckuva lot easier when the pokemon has an actual live animal to use as a base (and no fur)

Yep, I’m sold! I love the diverse choices of Pokenon here as well! Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Ludiculo, Sneasel, Jigglypuff, Torterra and Pangoro! Awesome!

VFX are amazing but they nailed keeping the cartoony designs instead of making them creepy-realistic. Retained the heart and novelty of all these little guys. This could have gone horribly wrong..

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Arvalis. His stuff is really inspired, and he puts a lot of detail and thought into reimagining Pokemon realistically.

Those all look great! Pokemon is a series I've stuck with after all these years so seeing them brought to life in such a way makes me very excited for this movie.

Slight of topic (but on the same subject): A new trailer for the Mewtwo Strikes Back CGI remake dropped recently. Looks interesting.
