It has been rumored for some time that The Losers director Sylvain White had been approached to direct a Tobey Maguire produced version of Robotech.

IESB caught up with him at WonderCon today where he was promoting The Losers.

This from IESB...

IESB point-blank asked White of the rumors for his directorial participation. He told our very own Gig Patta that he loves the series and yes, had been approached to helm Robotech.

He even went as far to say he's read a draft. Said script is an adaptation of The Macross Saga. That particular series centered on a war against the Zentraedi, a race of militaristic giant aliens.

He admitted he is interested, but was quick to point out the project hasn't been greenlit yet.

I'm a huge Robotech fan well at least of the Macross Chapter. Southern Cross was kinna cool but the third part left much to be desired. I would love to see a live action production of the Macross part of Robotech but I would rather see a SyFi channel series than a 2 1/2 hour movie.

I would give anything to see this movie. I am a huge Robotech fan. i have seen the series it was based on and I gotta say I actually liked Robotech better. The characters are more relatable, it is more grounded, and a really good story.

They could do a trilogy just based off of the Macross Saga. I mean the first 10-12 episodes alone have enough material for a kick ass film. Then move on with two more!

I actually started a Robotech story a while back, but i never finished it...

it maybe alright,we need a alternative to transformers they haven't been the greatest of movies.
they only had their moments.
so bring on the robotech movie & lose toby maguire.

A Robotech movie would be cool, @Joob I agree with on there being a Gundam movie and a Neon Genesis Evangelion movie before Robotech. I wouldn't even mind seeing one based on Gurren Lagann.

Even if it sucks... just freaking make it already. I'm still waiting on that "awesome" Robotech game they were working on for the Super Famicom... I can still picture the screen shots in GamePro.
