ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Director Wanted Rick Moranis To Appear In The First ANT-MAN
During a guest appearance on Screen Junkies' "Honest Reactions," director of Ant-Man and its sequel, Peyton Reed, reveals that he wanted Rick Moranis to cameo in the first Ant-Man film. More past the jump.
Peyton Reed (Yes Man, Ant-Man) recently appeared on Screen Junkies' "Honest Reactions" show, where he got a look at Honest Trailers' take on the first Ant-Man. During the commentary, he went on to mention that he had plans to have Rick Moranis make a cameo appearence in the first film:
"We actually, at one point, attempted to get a Rick Moranis cameo in the first movie - still during the period, I think, where he wasn't doing so much acting. I think he's now gonna be on the CTV Scorsese-directed thing, which I'm super psyched about. But always, still, an unchecked box for me."
Rick Moranis (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Ghostbusters) unofficially retired from acting in 1997 to become a stay-at-home Dad. Although he hasn't appeared on camera for decades, he has been doing voicework for TV shows/films and radio commercials in the meantime. His hiatus from acting on screen made it difficult to get him to cameo in the first Ant-Man, and that didn't change during the filming of the sequel - but now that Moranis is set appear in Netflix's SCTV reunion documentary, a cameo appearance in Ant-Man 3 seems more likely.
It would definitely be fun to see Rick Moranis appear in an Ant-Man film, so hopefully Peyton Reed will finally be able to check that "unchecked box" of his.
