ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Star Evangeline Lilly Would Prefer Not To Have A Spinoff Of Her Own

In an era in which stars are clamoring for their own spin-offs ventures, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP's Evangeline Lilly is taking a more reserved approach. In fact, she prefers not to have a solo film at all.

If there was one thing undeniable about Ant-Man and the Wasp, it is the fact that Evangeline Lilly's superheroine was a definite standout. In a set full of veteran actors, Lilly was able to rise above the rest, providing one of 2018's most welcome characters. With all the praise bestowed on her portrayal, some expected that Marvel Studios would have a solo feature in the works. Surprisingly, Lilly kindly prefers not to have a film of her own.

Speaking at Fan Expo Boston this past weekend, the Ant-Man and the Wasp actress had this to say:

I actually don’t like the idea of a Wasp standalone film, because Ant-Man and Wasp, since the very beginning in the comic books, were always a team. And really, they’re kind of one of the only proper and true teams in the MCU, otherwise it’s mostly a lot of individuals. And I love the team aspect of it, I love watching the interplay between Wasp and Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp. For me it’s the most fun part of the film.

To be fair, Lilly has a fair point. The Ant-Man franchise has always relied on the interplay between its main trio of likeable characters. Hank, Scott, and Hope's chemistry is too infectious to be broken apart.

Would you want to see a Wasp solo film?

She's got a point
Who wouldn't want to work with Paul Rudd?

That's actually a reasonable explanation.

Janet deserves a spin-off. An adventure movie in the Quantum Realm.

Wow an actor not trying to push for their own spin-off and therefore more money? I don't think I can fall more madly in love with Evangeline, she's just the best in every way.

I kind of hope there’s a third AatW. I enjoyed both films more so after the grand scale of IW. Happy for Evangeline to stay part of the team dynamic😊

For me, Lilly made Ant-Man and the Wasp function as a film that had a lot of things going against it. The two of them were gracious to one another, and it shows that they genuinely had fun together in the finished product. I do hope, however, that she doesn't get stuck within the confines of the Ant-Man franchise. If not a solo feature, at least find a way to use her in other pictures. Perhaps in the "fabled" all-female mash-up that I would give up a kidney to see?

Nah she would kill it in her own standalone movie, Ant man and the wasp was her movie. And I want more of her in new avengers or whatever mighty avengers, especially for a force movie.

Moot point since there's probably not gonna be an Ant Man & the Wasp 3. Their future lies in Avengers 5 and forward from there.

@nuclearpriest - Sure there is.

That’s cool. With Ant-man and The Wasp’s similar powers and origin their movie(s) are already pretty much akin to a solo movie anyway.

Now the character who does need a solo movie especially after her breakout performance in Infinity War:

Well good, because the Wasp doesn't necessarily need one.

They're a team, keep them as one.

Smart answer from her.

C'mon Marvel Studios...c'mon.
