Laurence Fishburne Says He’s Working On A Secret Marvel Project; Teases ANT-MAN & THE WASP Bill Foster Role

As we know, Batman V Superman's Laurence Fishburne will jump ship to Marvel when he takes on the role of Bill Foster in the Ant-Man sequel, but the actor says he also has something else in the works...

Laurence Fishburne has to skip out on reprising the role of Perry White for Justice League due to a scheduling issue, but the actor did manage to fulfil a childhood dream of joining the Marvel Universe in Ant-Man and The Wasp - and that's not all he has going on with the studio!

During an interview with Collider, Fishburne revealed that in addition to his role as Bill Foster in the Ant-Man sequel, he's also working on a super-secret Marvel project which he hopes will "change the world."

"I’m developing something else for Marvel that I can’t talk about. It’s gonna be really cool. It’s gonna change the world, we hope (laughs). I went to Marvel and pitched them something that really couldn’t work out—there was a lot of legal red tape that just [was] something they couldn’t work out. But then they came back with the offer for Ant-Man and the Wasp and then they said, ‘Hey, what do you think of this?’ and I went ‘Oh yeah that, yes!’ so…”

It's unclear whether this is tied into Ant-Man and The Wasp in some way or an entirely new endeavour, but it's certainty intriguing one way or the other.

Fishburne also chatted a little about playing Bill Foster, but he couldn't give too much away:

All I can tell you is I’m playing Bill Foster, who was Hank Pym’s assistant. That’s how I enter into the world and I’m very excited. Peyton Reed is directing it, who directed the first one. It’s gonna be as fun and cool and smart as the first one.”

Be sure to check out the interview in full HERE, and let us know what you think this secret project might be in the usual place.

@Spock0Clock -

I guess Blue Marvel could fit on televison but he seems better suited for a film, right?

@BlackBeltJones - I'unno. There's a lot of great stuff you can do on TV if you've got the ambition and just a reasonable production team. We've never really seen the kind of super-science of the MCU itself (maybe a bit in Ant-Man).

But I could see Ridley going real conceptual with it. Time travel as a means of understanding and social commentary (instead of an excuse for extras in kooky costumes). Space travel that feels more like Sagan's spaceship of the imagination.

True, on TV, you'd not want to do a weekly slugfest with kirby dots everywhere, but if you really boil down the superheroic elements, I don't think it would take much more than the kinds of effects from the Donner films. More of a quiet, unearthly, and dignified approach to what a superhero is. At least, that's what springs to mind when I think of John Ridley doing Blue Marvel. I could be totally off-base.

@Spock0Clock -

I'd lean into the time travel stuff...HARD.

@Benjamitesandwich - My thoughts as well. His talk of legal red tape makes me think that could be the case.

@AvatarAang - Yeah, Marvel Studios still don't have the rights to the character do they? It would be pretty bad ass to see him in the MCU though.
