ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA - Cassie Lang Battle-Tests Her Suit In New "Jump Tap" Clip

Marvel Studios' first Phase 5 film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is set to hit theaters this Friday, and we have a brand-new clip featuring Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) in action.

At this point in the movie, Scott (Paul Rudd) and Cassie find themselves captured by a group of rebels in the Quantum Realm, but they join forces when they realize that they have a common enemy in Kang (Jonathan Majors).

When the Conqueror's forces attack, Cassie decides to help, putting her new suit to the test in battle for the first time. The budding hero is still learning the ropes, so her dad gives her a few pointers; "Jump... tap!"

Check out the new clip in the player below.

Quantumania has received a mixed reception from critics (it's actually become the second "Rotten" MCU movie after Eternals), but is still expected to take in as much as $280 million worldwide this weekend.

Did the reviews put you off seeing it in theaters? Drop us a comment down below.

Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

The sci-fi adventure opens in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.

@AmazingFILMporg - Still didn't get a chance... I might leave it and just do a spoiler review over the weekend or something. If I get time tomorrow, I'll write it up.

@DudeGuy - it really does look like spy kids. To the effect I wonder if that's intentional. I mean spy kids is successful, that's why they made so many. Perhaps that's the audience they're hoping to hook in? Idk lol

The set looks so cheap. Murky brown background with faux dirt floor, sprinkled with some fire here and there. CGI looks like garbage.

I'll be first in line on Friday.

I'm really missing the days of actual physical sets. I get that it's "the quantum realm" and supposed to feel weird and ethereal or whatever, but imo there's rarely a good substitute for a physical set with physical set pieces to visually define spacial dimensions. When you just keep using CGI walls and floors, the brain eventually picks up on it and it stops feeling like a tangible experience.

One of the things that worked so well with the first Ant-Man was Scott spending most of the movie running around in a house, or a building. Sure, there were big CGI pieces for the shrinking scenes, but you usually would get cuts back to "normal" reality here and there to set physical boundaries and reset your brain's sense of space. Nothing about this clip feels real to me.

I'm still looking forward to seeing this, but we're at a weird point in CGI where the uncanny valley is getting wider and deeper every time a movie like Avatar comes out and pushes the limits. Marvel either needs to pony up on the CGI costs or take a step back and do more street level films.

@SheepishOne - agreed. Scott drumming while Woo enters his house to check if Scott is actually there get's more excitement out of me than them running around the QR.

Same reason I the first Thor kovie as well. It's not the best movie, but stiff like him trying to raise his hammer in that rainy SHIELD compound looked great. Remember more from that than from L&T.

@bkmeijer1 - Absolutely. Yea, I enjoyed the moon scene in Thor 4 with the b&w/color juxtapositions, but I think the scene of Thor trying to lift Mjolnir in the rain is way more iconic, and it probably cost a fraction of what the moon scene did.

It's kind of the same way I felt about a totally CGI Iron Man nano suit vs the more practical suit they filmed Tony with in the first couple of Iron Mans. I get that RDJ wasn't the most comfortable in it, but the alternative is a more cartoonish visual.

CGI is a great tool to enhance a film, but when it starts becoming a way to cut corners, and you start writing scenes around it instead of the other way around, it starts feeling lazy.

Not lazy from the vfx artists' perspective, of course. But lazy in terms of creativity and cinematography.

@SheepishOne - that's a good point. Iron Man looked so much better in 2008 than he did in 2018.

I’m not trying to be a sensationalist but perhaps Marvel should have rebooted after Endgame because everything since then has been largely embarrassing and mediocre as [frick].
