Kevin Feige Talks Marvel's Upcoming Slate; Describes ANT-MAN As A "Heist Movie"

Addressing rumours about the planned wave of Marvel TV shows and the possibility of the Guardians of the Galaxy crossing over with The Avengers, Kevin Feige also promises that Doctor Strange will bring the "supernatural" to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and describes Ant-Man as a "heist" movie.

In the following interview with IGN, Kevin Feige has revealed even more details about Marvel Studios' upcoming plans. Describing Thanos as the connective tissue which brings together the Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers franchise, the executive producer then dismisses recent reports about a new wave of TV shows based on their characters. However, far more solid is what Feige says about Doctor Strange, adding: "It’s no secret that the supernatural angle, the angle of alternate and parallel dimensions, we have not done in any of the films, and is not only a big part of the Doctor Strange comics, but also a big part of the Marvel Universe that we haven’t explored yet. So, I love the notion of tapping into all of that through Strange one day." He also describes Edgar Wright's Ant-Man as a "heist movie", seemingly confirming that it will indeed be Scott Lang (or possibly even Eric O'Grady) that the movie focuses on. What do you think?

So no Pym. Maybe we will see him in 10 years when Feige is fired and the Marvel Universe is rebooted with all its characters.

No Hank Pym. Way to stick it to the fans, Marvel.

This was known years ago, when Wright himself called the film a "heist film".

Dr Strange should be a light horror film.

Strane has got to have all the physical fighting, like the Matrix, done in the alternative dimensions where Strange kicks ass in a fantastical & supernatural way. In real life, he's pretty wimpy.

love how some people jump to the conclusion that Hank Pym isn't involved...smh
Pym and Lang- they [frick]ing did a 'heist' like Ant Man episode in Earths Mightiest Heroes with Pym and Lang. Calm down- put down the pitch forks and leave the ass kicking pants in the drawer...Pym is the central character.

I would love Ewan McGregor as Pym and Paul Rudd as Lang if indeed Rudd is on the short list. Keep Robin Blake away.

I wonder if Wright's idea of Pym being in his prime in the 1960s will still be part of the story. It would make more sense for him to have been active in the 80s or 90s, unless they want to cast someone very old for present-day Hank. And if so, what will become of Wasp? I want to see Wasp with the Avengers, not some retired old woman.

Yes, Scott Lang, but it doesn't mean that Hank Pym will not be in the movie as Ant-Man, will be a Fight Ant-Man Vs Ant-Man Vs villains who have threatened to Scott Lang

If the rumours from way back are true, Pym and Lang are both in the movie, Pym in a Mentor type role, and the inventor of the Ant Man technology, as well as being the "original" Ant Man in flashbacks, and Lang being the "current" Ant Man.

HELL YA!!! I really want to see this film, and I'm glad lang and ohm are in the film. Doesn't lang steal the Ant man from Pym so he goes back to get it back? I love heist films

I can see Dr. Strange explaining an alternate way of traveling through wormholes/parallel dimensions.

Remember the end of Avengers when Tony Stark nearly got stuck inside that wormhole? I think Dr. Strange will tie-into that and also some of the magic and science of Asgard.

@ 0mega

There is also an old issue of iron man (I think it might have been in the demon in a bottle run, can't remember for sure) that had Tony Stark hire Ant man to spy on one of his competitors for him. I know the popular theory is to have lang steal the suit but I just think it's still to early to jump to that conclusion.

Did anyone else notice, (@ 1:35, during the section about future Marvel t.v. projects,) Alan Taylor saying that it would be "an honor" to work on more Marvel projects? "I'd love to go back and forth between the movies and television...and be able to stay in the same universe."

Not sure about anyone else, but that doesn't sound like a bad working relationship, or a disgruntled director, to me. I could be wrong...

Ant-Man is Hank Pym and Scott Lang. Always has been. It's the same script Wright wrote a decade ago, but now rewritten to fit in the MCU.

If its a heist movie then Pym coukd still very well be introduced prior to AoU and help or create Ultron and the Ant Man movie can focus on him and Lang stealing the suit. Its a stretch but....

SuperShowdown - 10/23/2013, 10:29 AM
I guess this is Marvel's way of getting around the Pym-created-Ultron story....
While that issue is sort of solved, there's one major problem I have with a Lang-centered story...does no Pym mean no Wasp? After all it was Pym who gave her her powers...

Dang guys calm down! Marvel Studios and crew love to troll on its own fans, and I do not mean that in a bad way. They love to keep their fans guessing.
