Elizabeth Olsen & Aaron Taylor-Johnson On AGE OF ULTRON Set Photos, Multi-Pic Deal And More
The Godzilla pair once again keeps Avengers: Age of Ultron details close to the chest, but Olsen and Taylor-Johnson do discuss Joss Whedon, set photos and much more in a recent video interview.
Taking advantage of promotion for the actors' roles in the upcoming Godzilla movie, Collider is the latest to speak with Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson about their super roles as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. During the video interview, the stars were first asked about the inevitable multi-picture deals that they signed with Marvel Studos. "That was never part of it," said Johnson of the longterm contract. "I didn’t have any issues, but there were more important things to me about it in terms of our characters and what we can bring to it." Olsen chimed in, "And our characters are still continuing to change and grow. It actually just keeps getting cooler... [Marvel] cares a lot." Johnson then added, "Yeah, they totally delivered. They’re protective. It’s their own characters. They’ve got so much knowledge you work from, and there’s a backstory with these two characters. Where they grew up and how they grew up and how they’re affected by that, so we’re trying to bring as much into it, as much as we can."
When asked about the Eastern European accents for the Twins, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, Aaron Taylor-Johnson started, "Well, it's funny because—," before Elizabeth Olsen stopped him, laughing. "Are you really going to answer that? SHHHHH!" she whispered. "It's subject to change," continued the Quicksilver actor. "Always do reshoots."
The pair then talked about working with Avengers: Age of Ultron writer/director Joss Whedon and what it's like being the new additions to the established ensemble. "I find [Whedon] to be very specific, and he knows exactly what he needs, and when he gets it, you move on," said Olsen. "And he’s fun. He’s an excited kid. You feel like you’re in good hands also. Everyone at Marvel is fun to hang out with. They’re all great. I’m having a blast. I’m having so much fun right now. I can’t wait to go back." Johnson said, "I think Joss has got such a mad ball of energy. I haven’t even seen the half of it." "I do feel like the new kid on the block, though," admits Elizabeth. "I do feel like that too," Aaron agreed. "We move so quick and just try to get used to the character. We’ve done it four times now." "We're definitely the new kids on the block, which is definitely a fun feeling. And it's intimidating but awesome," added the Scarlet Witch actress.
As for the Avengers: Age of Ultron set photos, many of which revealed our first looks at Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and even Jeremy Renner all in their superhero garb for the Marvel sequel in March. When asked if they were aware of the paparazzi shots from the Italy shoot, Olsen said, "We're aware because there's a publicist on set literally always checking blogs." Taylor-Johnson suggests it's also the security that keeps them aware. "It's kind of great because they're conscious of it," he said. "They know everything," says Olsen. "The security knows everything. They’ll know where the photographers are and then they’ll discover some other exit of the building, and then they’ll never get a shot. But when we were filming in Italy, we were filming in town squares so because of the apartments, you can’t kick people out of their apartments."
