AVENGERS: ENDGAME Concept Art Reveals A Different Take On The Movie's Epic Final Battle

Avengers: Endgame wrapped up with a massive, jaw-dropping final battle, and this newly revealed concept art shows a slightly different take on that as Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble to take on Thanos...

Avengers: Endgame saw pretty much every single superhero that calls the Marvel Cinematic Universe home assemble to take on Thanos and his forces. It was an incredible, exciting sequence, and one of the most epic battle scenes we've ever seen in a comic book adaptation.

Now, production designer Ryan Lang has shared some of his early work on the movie's final battle, and it reveals some key changes compared to what ultimately ended up on screen.

For starters, it seems to be much smaller in scale with only a handful of heroes - including the likes of Captain America, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange - taking on the Mad Titan, members of the Black Order, and the Outriders. Whether this was going to be it or just a small glimpse at a much larger fight is unclear, but it is cool seeing this eclectic group of heroes side-by-side.

There's still no word on whether the Avengers will assemble again in the MCU, but the signs appear to be pointing to the Young Avengers coming together before a classic iteration of the group.

interesting that they originally intended for Tony to wear his Mark 50 armor from IW in endgame; glad they made the MK85 instead, just wish it had more screen time in endgame

@MeAreLegend - God do I not like that Mark 50. Looks like a onesie made out of gummy bear material.

@Fares - I liked the 'alien' look but i hated how it was too smooth without any real armor plates. I much prefer the look of the Mark 85 we saw in endgame

Just wish the Mark 85 got more screentime in endgame

@MeAreLegend - are there any differences between mk85 and mk50? I didn't even realize since they look too similar

@solskulldeath - Honestly I'm not sure what he's talking about. The only real difference between the suits is that the color scheme is closer to the classic interpretation of the suit from the comics (gold sleeves). Other than that there's really no difference functionally or aesthetically. Maybe in terms of cgi quality?

@Origame - it also looks more mechanical, like his classic armors an not like liquid metal.

@KnifeWasTooSlow - You see, this is why I brought up the cgi. That's where the difference you're noticing is. It's really no more mechanical. Just that the detailing on the suit makes that more apparent.

@Origame - Mark 85 has separations and plates, whereas Mark 50 was more of a one piece. Mark 85 also had a different looking (and far better) helmet.

@Origame - seriously i have no idea about the differences.they all look same

Am I the only one who was let down by the big final battle? I loved the ending with Iron Man, and Cap’s moment (but cmon that was always coming), and the ‘on your left’ moment is amazing, but otherwise it just didn’t cut it for me. Not as the climax to 10 years of movies with THAT many iconic actors together. The actuon itself wasn’t that good, and I just felt the cinematography lacking. Hoped for some better shots of all the heroes together. The one shot of the army together isn’t all that good in my opinion. Avengers and Age of Ultron had those great ‘comic book panel’ shots that were beautiful. All those great characters and there’s not a single shot of them all that I’d put on my wall, just a big murky shot of a lot of people running where you can’t make many out. I know, it’s not a popular opinion and I sound like an ungrateful ass. But I have to finally admit to someone I didn’t think much of it! I mean no good Hulk moments, and he was wearing that silly active wear uniform that just made it feel like it wasn’t Hulk.

Ah well, if it’s just me that’s good, I’m glad people loved it. But I just wonder if all the hype kept people from seeing how much better it could have been?

@connorblaze - Would have liked a Hulk moment, and there was a lot going on. But nevertheless .......... this was a moment on screen that - growing up - I never thought I'd see, not in a proper big budget way anyway. I think overall they did a great job of squeezing so much into the battle and trying to give everyone their shot at filling the frame for a few seconds or mins. With an ensemble piece of this size, I can only imagine the difficulties in putting it together and then editing.

My only gripe was the complete absence of any human response to this invasion. I know they had enough to do, but even a 1-2 second shot of army assembling nearby would have added to the feeling that it wasn't just Avengers vs Thanos, it was everyone vs Thanos.

@elgaz - with half the world being snapped away, I don't know if they even had armies. Let alone nations at that point

@Vigor - Good point, though I would have thought in the 5yr interim (considering what had just happened) it would have been a priority for the world's governments to come together and be battle ready for whatever may come their way in future. Pretty minor gripe in the grand scheme of things.
