AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Dave Bautista Ad-Libbed Drax's Hilarious "Why is Gamora?" Line
It seems Tom Holland wasn't the only Infinity War cast member to improvise some of his dialogue. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely reveal that Dave Baustista also ad-libbed his "why is Gamora?" line.
Despite a rather somber final act, Avengers: Infinity War is still packed full of hilarious moments, and many fans consider a certain line of dialogue spoken by GOTG member Drax to be the funniest.
When three of Earth's Mightiest Heroes encounter the Guardians for the first time a tense standoff ensues, with Star-Lord demanding to know the whereabouts of "his girl." When Stark responds with, "I'll do you one better: who is Gamora?", an incapacitated Drax brings the house down with, "I'll do YOU one better: why is Gamora?"

You might assume this was a well-orchestrated gag that had been written into the script from day one, but during an interview with Yahoo, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that actor Dave Bautista actually ad-libbed the line, prompting Markus to recall, "OK, you’re very good at your job."
Between this and the news that Tom Holland's final lines were also delivered off-the-cuff, it seems clear that directors Joe and Anthony Russo encouraged some improvisation, which has definitely served them well.
