Five Of The Original AVENGERS Got Matching Tattoos (Really) And They're Seriously Awesome

Avengers: Infinity War has become the fastest movie to reach $1 billion at the worldwide box office and may become the first summer blockbuster to crack $2 billion. So, how did the actors who play Earth's Mightiest Heroes celebrate? Well, they all got matching tattoos from New York-based tattoo artist Josh Lord. Needless to say, a lot of fans will probably wind up getting their own version!

So, what's the deal behind these matching tattoos, who got them, and which original cast member from The Avengers decided to opt out? We'll let Robert Downey Jr. explain the situation to you all:

"Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo. And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was (Scarlett) Johansson’s idea, and she and (Chris) Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did (Jeremy) Renner, and then we just bullied (Chris) Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it. And each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess."

Heading into Avengers 4, [SPOILER ALERT] it appears as if the focus will be put on original Avengers Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, so it's very cool seeing this sort of kinship between the cast. What do you guys think of these matching tattoos? Do you think they nicely symbolise the epic journey these actors and their characters have been on? Sound off below.

@regularmovieguy - he also was a more believable Banner. whereas Ruffalo seems better suited to play an ex-boyfriend on the show Friends, or an uncle of one of the guys from Big Bang Theory.

This was cooler than one of them giving the others guns and dead animals or used condoms. And their performances were actually good.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Not trying to argue with you but the SS cast also got matching "Skwad" tattoos, as well as all the shit you mentioned from Leto.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Yeah definitely. It's a nice little reminder. I have a tattoo on my leg that all of my friends from college got back when we graduated.

I believe it helps us not lose touch.
