Do you plan on seeing
Avengers: Infinity War in standard definition, IMAX or IMAX 3D?
If you choose one of the latter two options, you'll see up to 26% more of the film as revealed in the IMAX footage below. As reported all the way back in 2015 at the start of shooting on
Infinity War, the third
Avengers film is the first movie to be shot entirely on IMAX 2D Digital Camera (not to be confused with IMAX 70MM Cameras). What this means is that unlike certain films that are converted in post-production, the film was shot to preserve the full aspect ratio of the over-sized IMAX theater screen.
To further break down the ramifications and reasoning by Marvel Studios' decision, the average film screened in IMAX only has a few scenes that were shot with an IMAX camera, resulting in black bars at the top and bottom of the movie screen. That won't be the case with
Avengers: Infinity War.
Avengers: Infinity War will be released in theaters on April 27. Advance ticket sales for opening night are now available for purchase.
Avengers: Infinity War marks the first Hollywood film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Exclusively in IMAX theatres, Avengers: Infinity War will be presented in an expanded IMAX 1.9:1 aspect ratio – offering moviegoers up to 26% more of the image than standard theatres for a truly immersive experience.
The IMAX release of Avengers: Infinity War will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience®.
