IRON MAN 3 And THE PREDATOR Director Shane Black Pokes Fun At AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Villain
While promoting The Predator at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday evening, Iron Man 3 director Shane Black poked some good-natured fun at Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War. Does he have a point, though?...
As well received as The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War was, there were one of two elements that didn't hold up so well under closer scrutiny - something The Predator director Shane Black had some fun with during his SDCC panel yesterday.
Black was asked for his thoughts on the Marvell epic, and while he was quick to stress that he did really enjoy the movie, he did point out an inconsistency in the universe-altering powers Thanos gained by using The Infinity Stones.
"One moment there’s a train coming at him he can turn it into a flock of birds, the next minute Spider-Man is coming at him and he’s like, ‘Oh, my eyes! It’s got webbing!’ I loved the movie, it’s just, the kid had to do something, so.."
Though hardly a huge deal, this is something that the film's detractors bring up on a fairly regular basis, and it's certainly not without merit.
If a character like The Mad Titan can literally bend reality to his will whenever he chooses, then why doesn't he when it'd get him out of a bind? After all, we see him wave his hand at the GOTG and turn them into human (well, alien) slinkys in an earlier scene, so why doesn't he just do the same thing when ambushed by Iron Man and co. on Titan?
You could argue that he didn't have time to react (personally, I think that scene was handled very well), but it does open up the floor for an interesting debate.
Tell us, what do you make of Black's comments? Sound off in the usual place.
