Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a massive undertaking for Marvel Studios, especially as it's shooting back to back with the currently untitled fourth instalment. Talking in a recent interview with Collider, Kevin Feige shed some light on exactly how long it will take to film the movies and when that's actually set to begin. It's clearly going to be a very busy year for Joe and Anthony Russo anyway!
"Well without being super specific cameras start rolling in January and will continue rolling in some form or another through October, November," he revealed before adding that there will be some days when Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 shoot on the same day. "[It's] just for efficiency’s sake—but we are treating them both on a production level and a creative level as two distinct movies."
As for whether or not Avengers: Infinity War will focus just on the heroes we've met or some major new faces, he added: "It is primarily enough just to bring together all those characters in movies but there will be some new players." Does that mean we'll finally get to see Adam Warlock? We'll see!
Talk then turned to what's next for Marvel Studios, and Feige confirmed that they already have a rough idea of the movies they'll be releasing in 2020, presumably the start of Phase 4. "We know what we’d like them to be for 2020. Over the years, where we’re aiming we’ve been lucky enough that it’s usually been the same thing but we always leave ourselves the opportunity to bob and weave and adapt if we have to. But we know where we’re headed for 2020 and we have ideas and were beginning to solidify the years beyond that." There are probably countless possibilities as to what these might be, but chances are we have years to wait until finding out. How about Captain America?
The site asked Feige if he believes the next instalment in that saga needs to revolve around Steve Rogers (who is no longer Captain America in the MCU), to which he replied: "It’s a good question and if we look back at the comic books as our inspiration and as the well from which this all springs, then the answer is 'no.' I’m not saying we’ll do it in the movie but I’ve read Captain America comics that don’t have Steve Rogers in them." So, the door is open to someone taking over the mantle...maybe!
