Kevin Feige Weighs In On How Closely AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Follow INFINITY GAUNTLET

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reveals just how closely Avengers: Infinity War will follow the classic Infinity Gauntlet comic book featuring The Mad Titan wiping out the universe...

If Captain America: Civil War taught us anything, it's that Marvel Studios don't necessarily stick all that closely to the source material when adapting well-known event stories. Despite that, the majority of fans believe Avengers: Infinity War will borrow heavily from Infinity Gauntlet, an epic story which saw Thanos wipe out half the Universe when he finally got his hands on that all-powerful cosmic weapon.

When Collider caught up with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to discuss Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, they asked the producer just how closely to that tale this movie will stick to which he cryptically replied: "[His motives] will be similar to what they were in the Infinity Gauntlet in various ways. I guess that’s all I can say about that." So, he wants to take over the universe. We saw that coming!

Still, it's interesting to wonder what exactly Feige might mean here. Will Thanos align himself with Death/Hela and punish his disobedient daughter Nebula while wiping out half the Galaxy? We'll have to wait and see, but be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

I'm cautiously optimistic for Infinity War. The Russo Brothers are fantastic, but this is a pretty hard task and I doubt it'll live to most people's expectations (to be fair, I'm sure most fans are expecting the greatest film of all time). I have to say, after Civil War, I'm a bit more confident with the Russo Brothers ability to get a large ensemble with newly introduced characters right, but we'll see.

Glad to hear it.
Nobody remembers MCU movies for their villains, well not in a good way a la TDK at least, this could and SHOULD change that.
WS almost reached that goal in my book.

@Doomsday8888 - I think the Russos having the greatest chance of giving the MCU a memorable villain, much better than if say Joss Whedon or James Gunn was directing Infinity War.

@Elayem -
Agreed.
Don't know why you mentioned Gunn tho, he gave us a loser like Ronan, at least the Chitauri and Ultron where fine in a way.

Also, it's not like MCU doesn't have good villains, it's just that no one stands out, you know?
Most ppl barely gave a shit about Bats in TDK! XD

@Doomsday8888 - Exactly, I'm saying after Ronan and Ultron I dont trust Gunn or Whedon to give us a great villain, but I do trust the Russos.

Wholeheartedly expect Nebula to be wearing the Gauntlet in Avengers 4.

@AvisQuinn - She's already expressed the hatred for him... It seems like a logical conclusion that they're building up to. I can totally see this version of her doing it.

Never really wanted any of the movies to follow the storylines from the comics very closely. Surprise me. Just get the characters right.

@MUTO123 - I learned that the Wasp will have a big role in a movie called Ant-man and the Wasp and that Avengers 4 is not the same movie as Infinity War. Today has been quite illuminating. Mind blown.
