Rocket Racoon had a lot of fun blasting goons while standing on the shoulders of Groot but roles were reversed in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 thanks to the introduction of Baby Groot! Well, it looks like he'll find a new ally in Avengers: Infinity War as Mark Ruffalo has revealed that we can expect to see The Hulk strike up a friendship with Rocket in the highly anticipated movie and its untitled sequel.

"It’s a very funny relationship that the two of them have: First of all, it’s the biggest superhero and the smallest," Ruffalo said in a recent interview with USA Today. "Just keeping them in a frame together is a feat and hilarious in itself." That's another meeting confirmed then and it will be interesting seeing what these two make of each other when they cross paths and fight side by side!

There's a very good chance this team-up will be a throwback to Incredible Hulk #271, the issue where Rocket actually made his debut! It was the Jade Giant's 20th anniversary issue and featured the hero landing on Halfworld, a planet populated by talking, sentient animals (chances are that won't be introduced in Avengers: Infinity War, though). What do you think of these comments from Ruffalo?

What's amazing about the last two Captain America movies (that just about everyone loves in terms of tone) is that the Russos did those movies with one hand tied behind their back. Or maybe two hands... one hand each... whatever.

With the exception of the airport sequence and a couple of connected scenes, the Russos haven't shown how well they play in the more comedic realm that has mostly been the domain of Whedon, Gunn, and now Waititi. They are great character directors period. But they are in a tier of their own when it comes to character-driven comedy.

I hope and trust Infinity War will take full advantage of their skills (at least for the parts of the film that are able to be on the lighter side). These guys are the best of the best.

@Spock0Clock - They can be funny, but they choose not to.

Still "on your left" made me giggle.

@Spock0Clock - They are really good, and what is most impressive is that they had zero visibility before Winter Soldier. 2 arty movies no one saw 10 years prior, but that's it as far as movies go. Marvel chose them to direct a major action blockbuster coming from the TV industry, and their first try was a complete home run. Some say still the best Marvel movie to date. Pretty damn impressive.

And as far as humor goes, I mean, no one cared about Brian, but Arrested Development and Community were just so, so good.

@Sauron - Exactly. What separates the Russos from Whedon (for instance) is perspective and discipline. The Russos are just so relentlessly character-driven, the only standout jokes and tone shifts are a few treacle-cutters. But Whedon so often writes toward a joke or around one, and is too attached to let a good gag go. (Which is not to say "OMG Whedon is a hack", but it's like the difference between a studied professional baller vs. an enthusiastic amateur who dominates at street games.)

@Spock0Clock - They know what humor suits what characters, and which characters do humor, like spidermans banter in civil war and black widows sarcasm in winter soldier.

Cannot wait for them to use the guardians.

Mark my words, there will be a scene where Rocket stands on Hulk's shoulder firing a gigantic gun.

"BLAM! Murdered you."

@Asturgis - I would rather Rocket not be influenced by Bendis awful writing.

@Jeight8 - I'd rather he hadn't had Gamora [frick] Tony Stark, personally. That was… I'm still in shock. I always will be.
