Though most of the actors had played their characters in previous movies, Marvel's Avengers officially assembled Earth's Mightiest Heroes, giving many of the cast members the opportunity to work together for the first time.
The original Avengers would go on to share many more adventures in the MCU, but it can be easy to forget that they weren't overly familiar with each other back in 2011 when they movie was shooting.
During his visit to The Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shephard, Hawkeye's Jeremy Renner recalled the first time the six main stars of the film were preparing for a scene while in full costume, and Robert Downey Jr.'s (Tony Stark) hilarious first impression of Chris Hemsworth (Thor).
"Yeah, [Hemsworth] is amazing, but we didn't know of him, right? On the first day, we're all parading around in our costumes," Renner explained. "So It looks like it's Halloween. We're excited, but equally feeling ridiculous. I feel like we all knew each other somehow, someway, except we didn't know this Hemsworth guy, because he comes from Australia. And he's the tallest, he's the most good-looking… Downey was like, 'We gotta break his knee. We gotta take him out. This guy's too good-looking. He's too tall, he's too charming, f*** this guy.'"
Downey was joking (obviously), but it's nice to be able to get a fun insight into this early dynamic before they'd all become such a tight-knit group.
Unfortunately, we're unlikely to ever see the OG Avengers together again since only three members of the team are still active in the MCU, but Hemsworth will return as Thor for Love and Thunder, and we're hoping Renner will be back as Clint Barton for a second season of Hawkeye.
