AVENGERS 5 Rumor Claims To Reveal FIVE Characters Who Will Be Key To The Movie

Another day, another Avengers rumour! This time, a prolific scooper is claiming to have learned of five MCU characters who will be key to the movie previously known as The Kang Dynasty. Check it out...

By JoshWilding - Apr 29, 2024 04:04 PM EST

Avengers 5 was previously known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, with the title change coming shortly after Marvel Studios decided to take the focus off Kang the Conqueror (a result of the mixed response to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Jonathan Majors' legal troubles).

While Kang won't be forgotten - one of his Variants is still expected to be the Multiverse Saga's main threat - Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron is now overhauling Avengers 5's script after Jeff Loveness first took a crack at it.

He was allegedly fired from the project shortly after the Ant-Man threequel dropped, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has moved on to Wonder Man and the Shang-Chi sequel.

Little is known about the upcoming Avengers movies (the sixth instalment is still titled Secret Wars), but scooper @MyTimeToShineH is claiming to have learned the identities of five characters who will be key to this adventure.

Those are Captain America (Sam Wilson), Spider-Man, Moon Knight, The Hulk, and She-Hulk.

No additional context has been provided, though it's previously been reported that Spidey will lead his own team in this movie. The MCU's Captain America should absolutely be front and centre, while it's about time we catch up with Moon Knight again after that big Jake Lockley cliffhanger.

How can this movie address that and Moony's place in the wider MCU? That remains to be seen.

As for The Hulk and his cousin She-Hulk, not one but two powerhouse superheroes will be crucial when it comes to turning the tide in what could be another Multiversal War. We're not expecting another season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, so Jennifer Walters making the transition into the Avengers franchise is a logical next step.

"It's really a classification system for the audience that's following along," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said last year of the Multiverse Saga. "It's to keep track of how the pieces fit in place. Not every film in the Infinity Saga focused on the Infinity Stones or Thanos, and it'll be the same across 5 and 6. But we're gearing up."

"You know, I'm coming up on 23 years at Marvel. That's a long time. It's not quite half my life, but it's almost half my life. [Laughs] Many of us have been together for a decade or more. And we only do it because we are so excited and in love with the potential for what we can do ahead."

"The storylines that weave together through Phase 5 and 6 into Secret Wars and the opportunities that the multiverse brings storytelling-wise, it's a whole new aspect to the MCU," the executive concluded.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on May 7, 2027.

If true then I’m surprised Shang Chi isn’t included given the post credits scene of his movie (unless The Ten Rings aren’t related to Kang or whomever at all)…

Granted this is just Avengers 5 so we’ll see , maybe he is more important in Secret Wars.

Also glad to see the Hulk on there , i enjoy Smart Hulk personally but can understand why others would like the more savage or semi-intelligent version back.

I'm more excited about she hulk being a main character, if this rumor is true. I just feel her personality fits an avengers team so we'll.

I suspect they would be focusing on moon knight not because of the character but because of the star power of the actor.

And come on where does Shang Chi fit. We know those rings have some kind of Kang angle

@Vigor - She Hulk wasn’t one of my favorites but still found it to be decent…

Having Tatiana’s Jen have a prominent role i wouldn’t mind since she was great.

@Vigor -

I disliked the cringey moments of the show, and the way they ended it, but for the most part I enjoyed the show, I'd be down for more She-Hulk if it's in better hands creatively.

@Vigor - exactly. Think She-Hulk and Moon Knight would make for really good leads. Doubt they're the main leads though, given that not all moviegoing audiences watched the shows

@Vigor - agreed.

I actually loved the way Tatiana Malsany played She Hulk, even if the writing was painfully bad at points.

@TrentCrimm - this is exactly how i feel. It had its moments and she was great, but incredibly cringey writing at points.

@Vigor - funny cuz i honestly tried so hard to like the She Hulk show. But it seemed like they was trying to do everything in their power to put people off. That being said I like the actress, just wish they’ll ditch the 4th wall breaking and leave that to deadpool

@TrentCrimm - I'd be open to it if it was written by comic book fans rather than activists...

If they can actually make her fun, I’d be glad to see She-Hulk. Leave Scarlet Scarab home tho, nobody likes her ass

Can Hulk at least evolve past the Smart Hulk persona? That’s been dragging his character down for a while.

@mountainman - I have a feeling the events of Captain America and Thunderbolts will be directly tied to a return of unhinged Hulk.

I don't know how to directly connect the dots, but I think he's going to be injected with something against his will that effectively erases Banner's conciousness and hulk essentially becomes Ragnarok Hulk again, but angry.

Brave New World title just has me thinking the ending leads to a backdoor World War Hulk movie, which is Thunderbolts, and why they added an * to the title.

@mountainman - I feel every time he has been a main character in a film we have had a different version so probably going to go more rage monster again I would say. Sure it feels like he has been stuck as Smart Hulk for ever but in terms of films it was only Endgame, in terms of shows only She-Hulk (as the end credit in Shang-Chi was just Bruce not Hulk).

Bullshit.

Avengers 5 isn't even written.

Marvel isn't knowing what to do yet.

Spiderman will be in A5, but after Cap 4 will bomb, Sam Wilson will die in the movie.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/29/2024, 4:53 PM
@MarvelZombie616 - with A5 being only two years away, I think they do have a story down on paper. Think they already had IW down too when Civil War rolled around
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 4/29/2024, 5:22 PM
@MarvelZombie616 - No way they don't have a plan as to which a main five or six hero characters that will form a team. There may still be rewrites going on but the outline of the story will still be similar at least as still has the same films that have set it up and still the same destination.

@MarvelZombie616 - I actually hope they just recast Steve and revert Sam back to Falcon. Kill the other Falcon. Its not that Sam is a bad character, its that he isn't Cap.

I don't believe one word of this. Why would they use 2 characters from Disney+ shows as pivotal roles in one of the final movies of the Saga? Especially one whose show has one of the lowest viewership of all their D+ shows. If they do this it will be a huge mistake.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/29/2024, 4:58 PM
@CorndogBurglar - exactly. My guess is the movie characters will be the main team in A5, and the tv and multiverse characters will join in A6.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/29/2024, 4:56 PM
Honestly, She-Hulk and Moon Knight would make for really good leads. I just don't think they'll be the main leads, since not everybody watched their show.

Captain Marvel, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Shang-Chi, Spider-Man, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the main team. The tv characters will probably be secondary, or maybe even be saved for Secret Wars.

@bkmeijer1 - I really appreciate you being honest about this.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 4/29/2024, 5:36 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Every Avenger movie has had at least three characters who had a solo movie front and center plus additional members so still tracks with Sam having had one by then, Spider-man having had a least three and Hulk being one of the few remaining Infinity saga main team members. Adding in a couple from shows is little different to adding in Black Widow and Hawkeye on the first team or adding on entirely new characters in AoU, Civil War, IW and Endgame realy.

I suspect the team will have more than five members however but also suspect we may have a second team lineup being planned with the likes of Dr Strange, Wong and Shang-Chi core members.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/30/2024, 2:29 AM
@Apophis71 - I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with multiple teams. They could easily form the Avengers, West Coast Avengers, Ultimates, Young Avengers and Midnight sons with all characters running around.

And I kinda hope they go that route. It worked really well, and they had about one or two main leads per team after they split up in the beginning.
