Avengers: Infinity War naturally left a lot of questions about the future of the MCU, details of which are being kept under wraps until the release of next year's Avengers 4. One thing we do know is that we will see a sequel to this year's other hugely successful Marvel film, Black Panther.
With no concrete future slate details and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige willing to hold out until Creed director Ryan Coogler is ready to return, there's no word on when we can expect to see Chadwick Boseman in another solo outing for the character.
When T'Challa does return to our screens, however, you can be sure that breakout star and fan favorite Letitia Wright will be joining him as Shuri. This has led to speculation about where we could see her character go in the future, including her adopting the mantle of Wakanda's protector herself.
While at the MCM London Comic Con, the young actress was asked about this possibility and seemed very much open to the idea should it come to pass.
"If the opportunity came about, then why not? It would be comic book accurate. Yeah, that would be amazing. It means more training, more learning and it would really be an amazing adventure. Shuri becomes a savage in the comic books. From going to comedic and fun and like a kid – to then just pulling out some claws. I’m excited."
With this era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming to a close and a very different one on the horizon, many assumed we would indeed be getting into the legacy aspect of these popular characters but with Chadwick Boseman only one solo film and three performances in, the chances of Wright taking over anytime soon are slim.
What do you think? Would you like to see Shuri become Black Panther? Do you want Boseman to see out a trilogy? Leave your thoughts below.
