AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Blu-Ray Could Include An Additional 30 Minutes Dedicated To Thanos' Backstory

Is there a "Thanos Cut" of Avengers: Infinity War coming our way? Jim Starlin, creator of The Mad Titan, says that The Russos are planning to restore 30 mins of footage for the film's home release...

Though this has yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel or The Russo brothers themselves, we have it on good authority that there's a special edition of Avengers: Infinity War heading for home release which will include an additional half an hour dedicated to Thanos' origin.

Collider caught up with Jim Starlin at Las Vegas Comic Con this past weekend, and the creator of The Mad Titan told them that The Russos plan to restore 30 minutes of footage dedicated to the villain's backstory for the Blu-ray.

To be clear, these wouldn't be deleted scenes - this extra Thanos stuff that had to be removed from the theatrical release would be re-integrated into the film for a new extended cut.

We're sure Starlin is on the level here, but, again, we'll have to wait until we hear from Marvel before we get too excited... as awesome as this sounds!

Why they don´t release the Thanos extended cut on theatres for summer?

Many people will watch it again for sure.

They could easily win #3 Star Wars The Force Awakens on the All Time World Wide Box Office, they only need $30 million

@lvcl - Avengers actually re-expanded for Labor Day weekend back in 2012. It added an additional $6 million dollars to it's total, but that was just the same version. An extended cut would probably add more than that to Infinity War, and there is nothing coming out end of August, beginning of September, so IMAX may be asking them to do this.

@Pigdango - Yes, and it wouldn't be seen as a big blatant cash grab, because the additional scenes just add to the story - they don't replace or change anything to what you've already seen. I think they should do it!

@lvcl - Jurassic World also re-expanded in 2015 and added $13 million to it's total, so I think this is very possible for a theatrical release if they can get it done in time. With all the work they're doing on Part 2 right now I really don't think this is going to happen though.

Release the Sn.......I mean Thanos Cut...!!!

Haven't made it to the Cinema in the last few months, had to wait for the Blu Ray release date for Black Panther and will probably do the same for Infinity War.

Still emotional about Killmonger especially after Creed was on the other day, so waiting for Infinity War for another master class.

@AngryCipher - Oh and it's sort of the Manhattan project of reddit and could quite possibly crash reddit for an hour, but it's worth it.
