AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Don't Expect To See A Whole Lot Of SPIDER-MAN

Excitement about Spidey's role in Avengers: Infinity War is at an all-time high, especially with Spider-Man: Homecoming scoring rave early reactions. However, he may not swing into the picture for long.

Early word points to Spider-Man: Homecoming being a triumph, but while you might be expecting the reboot's success to increase Peter Parker's presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it doesn't sound as if we should expect the wall-crawler to have an extended role in Avengers: Infinity War next year.

During a recent chat with Fandango, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige tempered expectations for Spider-Man's involvement in the battle against Thanos and made it clear it's going to be a cameo.

"I think it might feel bigger a little bit because of Homecoming and because of what people know from it, but it's about on par with [Civil War]," he revealed, seemingly confirming that the hero is going to appear for only a few minutes. That's a shame, but it would be a little odd for Peter to be heading into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially when he's such a grounded character.

Spidey's Civil War role was definitely satisfying, though, so this should still be fun to see! As for the chance of others from the hero's world showing up here, Feige added: "There's a pretty big crew already in those movies, but you might keep an eye out." That's intriguing and it will be fun now to see how many other cameos we get. As always, let us know your thoughts on this news down below.

I mean, I don't really see Spider-Man having a hell of a lot of impact on the story, he's hardly a heavy hitter to Thanos in comparison to Hulk, Thor, Strange, and so many others. Not to mention the cast is twice as big as Infinity War. I'd say this is fair screentime, so I hope people don't start bitching, he's in the movie enough I'd say. I'd much rather make room for more Guardians into the plot, to be honest. All of Strange, Panther, and the Guardians just seem like much more of a priority in my opinion.

@ScarletWarlock - Would be funny to see him annoy thanos

@ScarletWarlock - When it comes to Thanos and that Gauntlet, being a heavy hitter is irrelevant. It's all about brains, if you want to win.

Whatever serves best the story. It's an Avengers movie after all.

I don't expect to see a whole lot of anybody tbh.
Maybe the big 3, but it's probably gonna be all about Steve and Tony.
If this Hulk was stronger it could pose a real threat to Thanos, but i actually like it this way.

But we yee see, i liked him and i wants him. So we can do this the easy way, or the hard way, the choice is yours.

As long as he's in the film and gets to do something noteworthy I'm happy.

I'm suspecting the reason we're not gonna see a lot of him is because he's going to be on earth and the rest of the Avengers are going to space.

Also it would seem like a pretty big escalation for Spidey to go from fighting an old man in a bird suit to fighting Thanos with the Gauntlet.

I figured as much, I theorize that in "Infinity War", Spider-Man and a few others will probably stay behind on earth to protect the home front, while the heavy hitters go out into space to fight Thanos head on. Maybe the end of "Infinity War" will be Thanos getting all 7 Infinity Gems and kills all, or at least half, of the founding Avengers. Then, after that, the 4th Avengers film would be titled "New Avengers" or "Avengers Assemble", and feature the earth bound heroes like Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, Winter solider, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel banding together with the Guardians Of The Galaxy to defeat Thanos and undo the massive level of death and destruction he caused. The founding members will get resurrected in the fourth film and assemble one last time against Thanos. By the end of that film, all or most of the original members will either be killed off, retired, or become a supporting role in the background like Fury, but they'll have passed the torch to the capable hands of the New Avengers, who helped save the universe.

@Jhuntdaprodigy - They're not going to kill off half of the founding members only to ressurect them and kill them again

I'd be worried if he did have a substantial role, nothing more than the screen time he had in Civil War.

However, it presents a clear opportunity to present the black suit...

@MrMurdock - Wouldnt avengers 4 make more sense?

@MafiaBillCipher - Infinity War / Avengers 4, either one really. You're right, the latter would probably make more sense.

Good. Spider's are no good in space. He'd be a liability.

@Batman1991 - Infinity War's cast is literally over twice the size of Civil War. Outside of Thanos, Cap, Ironman, and maybe Vision I don't expect anyone else to have a larger role

Well there are so many characters so thats okay Spider-Man will probably have as much screentime as Captain America, Black Panther, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Hawkeye.

@MrFridayNights - Pretty sure he'll have a lot less screen time than Captain America

But Avengers 4 will be all about Spider-Man and the New Avengers.
