AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Hi-Res Concept Art Reveals New Designs For Bucky, Black Widow, War Machine, And More

Avengers: Infinity War gave many of our favourite characters new looks and here you'll find fresh takes on Black Widow, Bucky, The Falcon, and War Machine. The latter looks particularly formidable...

As is always the case with a new superhero movie, the main characters received updated costumes which are there both to make fans happy by bringing various designs from the comics to life and to (understandably) help Disney sell more action figures! That's why pretty much everyone had a makeover in Avengers: Infinity War but there were story reasons for that too.

Black Widow and The Falcon had been on the run as part of Captain America's Secret Avengers, Bucky transformed into the White Wolf in Wakanda, and Iron Man was bound to give War Machine some upgrades after making big changes to his own armour.

What you'll find here then is alternate takes on all of these fan-favourite heroes. From a redheaded Natasha Romanoff to an armoured Winter Solider and a powered up War Machine, these are all very cool indeed. So, to take a look, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below for the full list of hi-res concept art.

Black Widow

Apparently, Marvel Studios made the decision to change Black Widow's hair colour at the very last minute but this costume is very cool and shows that Natasha has altered it in a lot of ways.

Just like Captain America removed the star and "Avengers" logo, it appears as if Natasha has chosen to wear a costume which is a little more grounded and not quite so super-heroic.

This hood works surprisingly well and would have been a good way to help Natasha blend in, especially as she would be so recognisable after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon

Considering the fact he's been on the run alongside the rest of the Secret Avengers, it's no great surprise that not many changes have been made to Sam Wilson's costume over the past few years.

This is a bit like a "spot the difference" game but look closely and you'll notice that a lot of changes have been made to various parts of The Falcon's costume in these pieces of concept art.

The Winter Soldier

A clean-cut Bucky, this concept art makes it clear that the former Winter Soldier has come a long way since his mind was cleared of that HYDRA brainwashing. This also references his WWII costume.

Marvel Studios obviously put a lot of thought into how Bucky's new arm would look and now that's it's made of Vibranium, Iron Man will probably have a hard time to blast it off next time they meet.

The one thing that was missing from Bucky's arm in Avengers: Infinity War was the star on his arm but if he does ultimately become Captain America, then you have to believe it will make a return.

A very Wakandan take on Bucky's appearance, this would have been cool to see and might have emphasised the fact that he's now become the White Wolf, one of the country's protectors.

These once again pay homage to Bucky's appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel Studios clearly considered ditching the hero's long hair and beard in this movie.

These all have their good points but I think my favourite has to be the one on the top right as Bucky as decked out fully in Wakandan armour and looks like a totally new man as a result.

War Machine

We know that War Machine is getting a bulked up suit of armour in Avengers 4 and this concept art may shed some light on the new capabilities that will have in the upcoming movie.

It was great seeing War Machine fighting alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and it's fair to say that he had his coolest suit of armour in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.

Bucky's still a bit brooding atm, so I think sticking with the long hair was the better choice for now. The short hair would have been a bit too drastic for such little screen-time in the movie (although in contrast the hair change worked for Cap even with his small role, I don't think it would have worked with Buck).

@BlackBeltJones - hey maybe at some point we'll get a Marvel One-Shot of actually showing the time in Winter Soldier where Steve, Nat and Sam broke into that facility to steal the last existing "Falcon" equipment to begin with lol

@Supercat6376 @Vigor - He’s handled so much better by the Russo’s, especially during combat and a lot better then Whedons “War machine comin aTChu” “Oh uh uh.. I didn’t say you can leave”

@XelCorp - Just rewatched Age of Ultron. Although I don't hate it, it really pales in comparison to anything the Russos have done with these characters. Even ham-fisted tech babble between Banner and Stark is cringe-worthy. And yes, using Rhodey as comic relief is awful. He's actually the straight man to Stark, a revered military Colonel...used as a complete joke and giving him "urban" slang is so disrespectful of the character and cheap/lazy.

okay yea see after like my 5th viewing of Infinity War, this suddenly hit me about War Machine. That we've seen Tony get a new iteration of Iron Man every single movie (sometimes multiple steps in the same movie), we're practically up to like Mark 87 now. And yet, how come Rhodey barely ever seems to play in the major upgrades game? I'm not even saying that he should be totally equal to Iron Man's, and sure he'll often get a bigger canon/machine gun thingie/whatever to attach, but the design of War Machine's suit itself, feels like he's basically been working with the same framework a long time now.
