AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Elizabeth Olsen Talks About The Possibility Of A Solo SCARLET WITCH Movie

It won't be too long until Marvel Studios' Phase 4 begins, which is sure to consist of plenty of new solo films. Now, Elizabeth Olsen comments on whether we could see one focused on the Scarlet Witch...

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still going strong with a bevy of movies still to come out between now and next year, including Avengers: Infinity War which will premiere this month. However, while the slate of Phase 3 films has been known for a while now, the list of films to come in Marvel's Phase 4 is still largely unknown.

It’s assumed that Marvel’s fourth phase will consist of a number of sequels, such as a Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3, as well as few new solo films. There have been a lot of rumors revolving around what films may make the list, including a Black Widow movie, but we still don't know anything for sure.

Elizabeth Olsen has now shed some light on whether we should expect a Scarlet Witch solo outing to be among the mysterious slate of films.

“We are at ground zero,” the actress told People, revealing there are currently no plans for a Scarlet Witch film. “It’s definitely not something I’m pushing. I don’t know if it’s something they’re going to push either.”

The Avengers: Infinity War actress also revealed that she occasionally jokes with her co-star Paul Bettany about the idea of a Netflix series revolving around the Scarlet Witch and Vision:

“I joke about having a domestic television show on Netflix or something. It would just be like house event, where Scarlet Witch goes bananas. That’s what we joke about but I don’t think either of those things are happening.”

It seems fans of Wanda Maximoff shouldn't get their hopes up for a solo film revolving around the hero. Then again, until the full slate of films is announced, we can never rule it out.

@Darriann - That would be amazing. I love the Eternals. Thor’s Eternals Saga is still one of my favorite storylines of all time and what first got me into the character.

If it is a Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver film from their early days working for Hydra, I could go for that. I'd also be down for a Vision and Scarlet Witch film (except vision is probably going to die).

I'm not so sure about JUST a Scarlet Witch film though. There's a lot of other things I'd rather see.

Put her in Doctor Strange 2.

She has chaotic, magic like abilities that could use some taming. Strange could be the one to help her. The sort of tutelage Strange received would benefit Wanda.

I personally would love a SW solo movie, but I just don't see it happening either.
Marvel just has too much on their plate currently.

Marvel and Disney listen up. Do it. Scarlet Witch solo movie. Please. Phase 4 let’s go. It could be so great. Bring in Agatha Harkness. Teach her witchcraft to go along with he powers she already has. Scarlet Witch is one of the few Marvel female superheroes who should really get a a solo movie.

I wouldn’t cry about a Vision and Scarlet Witch movie. That would be awesome too. But my dream would see Brother Voodoo introduced in Doctor Strange 2 and the Scarlet Witch solo movie and then all three have to team-up to take down a huge threat in Doctor Strange 3.

She should've been a guest star in an episode or two in Jessica Jones Season 1 and been the reason why Kilgrave couldn't control Jessica no more taking Jean Grey's role from the comics, makes far more sense than Jessica just not succumbing ti Kilgrave any more, you would've had a badass ladies team up and it would connect the movies to the shows.

Would've been cool.

@Chaos200 - But why would scarlet witch be there? If you just introduce her out of the blue to stop Jessica from being controlled, that's just so stupid. It made actual sense in the show.
Chaos200
Chaos200 - 4/4/2018, 8:05 PM
@JustAChillFan - No imagination whatsoever. Jessica Jones S1 takes place roughly after Age of Ultron right? Where is Scarlet Witch? She's in Avengers compound, you think she not allowed any downtime? To explore New York? You know considering Avengers Compound is in New York. I think someone fresh from Sokovia would love to explore New York in her downtime, then she bumps into Jessica Jones on her travels, maybe she see's jessica fighting some dude, notices she's weirdly strong and is intrigued by her or they get into a fight. There's about 1000 scenarios you could write, that's what writers do.

And yes Jessica for no reason can't be controlled by Kilgrave then she suddenly has this unexplained will makes so much more sense than the mind bending Witch putting a blocker spell on her brain.
JustAChillFan
JustAChillFan - 4/4/2018, 8:49 PM
@Chaos200 - It has nothing to do with will, it's that the traumatic event of killgrave making her kill someone breaks his control over her. Everyone he controls don't want to do the things he tells them to do, but their brains make them do so. Jessica killing someone broke shattered that control the same way getting electrocuted every time you smoke makes you stop smoking in that her brain recognized that by following those orders it would hurt itself. You can literally learn this kind of stuff in grade 11 psychology. As for all your Scarlet Witch stuff.. just no man, that sounds so convoluted and forced. Do you even realize how many people live in and around New York City? There is literally no reason for her to know anything about Jessica or even what is going on. Also, like Tony says in CW, the government considers her a WMD, she ain't just walking around on her own in one of the biggest cities on the planet.
Chaos200
Chaos200 - 4/4/2018, 9:30 PM
@JustAChillFan - "it's that the traumatic event of killgrave making her kill someone breaks his control over her." LAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMEEEE I always hated that in S1 made no sense. Why is her experience the only one powerful enough to break free of Kilgrave's control? So his power is useless if he uses it too much on you? What a cop out! [frick] real life Psychology he's using mind control pheromone powers, it's a massive cop out. In the comics Jean Grey has to put a protection spell on her to block Kilgrave out so she can beat him, that makes more sense not this Dues Ex Psychobabbel.

Jessica Jones S1 is PRE Civil War! You really think they kept Wanda on lockdown when she became an Avenger? She literally was about to go out to pick up some paprika in the movie before Vision stopped her and jests to Tony about him locking her in the room. Yes I absolutely believe she would be allowed and was exploring New York PRE Sokovia Accords/Lagos incident on her downtime.

How is her bumping into Jessica Contrived? Lady Sif appearing in Agents of Shield was far more contrived but that still happened! It's like saying Guardians coming to earth to fight alongside the Avengers is contrived, it's not. You write a reason why they go to earth just like they'd have written a reason why Scarlet Witch is in Hell's Kitchen, she's exploring New York! You could even have Avengers Agents accompanying her or she could be traveling incognito, use your goddamn imagination and stop thinking so limited.

If Infinity War wasn't already happening and someone suggested it you're the kinda person to say the idea is contrived, I bet before Avengers 1 happened you'd probably also say a team up movie between separate franchises was contrived. We have Spider F'N Man in the MCU forced into the small 2 hours of Civil War! Tony just pulls him out of nowhere but that's fine, not contrived at all? And now you're saying Scarlet Witch can't even go on a F'N day trip around New York her new city?? In the words of Chandler Bing; could you BE anymore narrow minded?

Her meeting Jessica in S1 accomplishes so many things in universe and out of universe it's perfect.

1. At the end of Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch is officially living in New York, where Jessica also happens to live, yes Upstate New York is far from hell's Kitchen but if I was a Sokovian immigrant fresh in New York you're damn sure I'd want to travel and look around and I bet you off screen Wanda did that regardless, even if (which I doubt) she had to sneak out.

2. It's a perfect answer of how to get Jessica immune to Kilgrave's mind control, much better than TRAUMA, OVERUSE OF POWER ON ONE PERSON. It's in line with the comics too, just swapping out Jean Grey with Scarlet Witch as they have similar powers and it's not a dues ex machina as Wanda has been established with those powers in the previous Age of Ultron film and the comics.

3. It's an epic crossover that would make the fans of the show erupt with joy and even you would've loved it, it's easy to hate on it now because it didn't happen but if it was written to happen in the show suddenly you'd hail marvel as your gods for officially crossing over Netflix with the films.

4. And finally it helps bridge the link between The Defenders and The Avengers if they had the balls to put them in Infinity War or Avengers 4 not to mention tests the waters for a Scarlet Witch Netflix show which is already being talked about in this thread.

Not only do i think this is far from contrived but I think not having her in Jessica Jones was a missed opportunity because of how much sense it made.

@Chaos200 - You're either insane, or don't realize that this isn't the comics.
Chaos200
Chaos200 - 4/5/2018, 1:25 PM
@JustAChillFan - Great argument, top notch. I'm sure that's what DC and Fox tell themselves too. A giant purple alien man with colourful super gems fighting roughly 30 superheroes is about be the biggest movie of the year and you can't wrap your head around Scarlet Witch showing up in a Jessica Jones Netflix episode, even though it's already happened on Agents of Shield with Samuel L Jackson and Lady Sif.

SMDH.
JustAChillFan
JustAChillFan - 4/5/2018, 3:06 PM
@Chaos200 - Because those cameos made sense. Fury was the director of shield at the time and Coulson was actively keeping in touch with him. Lady Sif was there trying to chase down a rogue Asgardian whom Shield were tracking down. Not once in any of your ranting did you explain why Scarlet Witch would a) be the there in a way that wasn't forced, b) how she would know anything was up to begin with, c) how she wouldn't just immediately inform all the avengers, and d) not come of as plot convenience as well as being such a cheap way of connecting the Netflix shows to the movies.
Chaos200
Chaos200 - 4/5/2018, 3:38 PM
@JustAChillFan - I really don't get your problem with this,

Lady Sif was trying to chase down a Rogue Asgardian? Why do you think that storyline exists in the first place? To give a reason why she's cameoing.

You want me to write a reason why Scarlet Witch bumps into Jessica Jones, in New York where they both live? Why does Jessica bump into Luke Cage? Into Daredevil? Into Kilgrave? Why would Scarlet need to inform the other Avengers? Did Falcon inform the other Avengers when Ant-Man infiltrated THIER BASE!?
The Avengers clearly know other "gifted" exist as evidence with Tony and Vision in Civil War, Spider-Man in Civil War was contrived but I'm sure you're fine with that?

You only need to write a reason why she doesn't inform them, you write a reason why she bumps into Jessica Jones.

1. Scarlet Witch is traveling around New York on her downtime, shopping, tourism, curiosity, a solo mission seriously you could make up 1000 reasons why she's in Hell's Kitchen it's really not important, she see's Jessica Jones beating up some dude and assumes she's hurting him and Scarlet Witch as a hero naturally tries to help him, her and Jessica get into a fight, they find out that they're basically on the same team, Scarlet WItch says she's new to New York, Jessica is curious about her powers, Jessica finds out she's an Avenger they talk, eventually Kilgrave comes up and Scarlet says she'll take care of him Jessica probably would say she wants to handle Kilgrave alone Wanda says she'll help Jessica in a different way and does her magic mind bending stuff to Jessica. Wanda tries to recruit Jessica to the Avengers, Jessica says no she doesn't want to join any lame superhero team (this is before defenders so it makes sense).

There's 100's of other smarter ways you could introduce her too but I'm not going to brainstorm them here for you who clearly doesn't want to admit defeat, arguing about how his lack of imagination and narrow mind makes sense. If I said Lady Sif should cameo in Agents of Shield I'm sure you'd say it's contrived too, why would an Asgardian be on Agents of Shield? That's what writing is! You make it work in the plot!
