An amazing deleted scene from Avengers: Infinity War has found its way online today, and it confirms that a leaked image of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange teaming up to save the Guardians of the Galaxy which popped up a few years ago was indeed the real deal.

With their souls separated from their bodies, the Sorcerer Supreme tasks Peter Parker with rescuing the heroes and bringing them to Mantis so that she can save them. What follows is a great moment for the character as she restores her fellow Guardians, and we get a brilliant throwback to Vol. 2 when Drax comments on his teammate's hideous appearance.

Spidey, meanwhile, points out how heavy Star-Lord is, a reference to some digs made at his expense a little earlier in the movie when the Guardians discovered Thor in space.

Time will tell whether any more deleted scenes from the "Infinity Saga" box set will find their way online, but, in the meantime, you can read our breakdown of each of them right HERE

Yeah, it throws off the urgency and pacing of that fight scene and gives Mantis weird soul powers outta nowhere. Glad it was cut.

@Necropolitan - Don't forget the shitty Drax joke. Every fight scene needs one of those.

It would have been cool to see the Soul Stone's powers, but this does throw off the pacing and slow down the action.

I can see why it was cut, it goes on a little too long.

Definitely needed to be deleted but at least it explains why Spider-Man was MIA while Iron Man was getting his ass kicked in a solo fight with Thanos.

Starlord must be really heavy, seeing as how Spidey can stop a bus.

Glad they cut it. Throws the flow of the movie off a bit

I like the sequence only if to give the soul stone some action. It was billed as the most important stone but it ended up being the most useless.

Even if this would have slowed the action down, it went well with that real sense of dread I felt throughout the whole infinity war that I just never felt in endgame.

@MyCoolYoung -
Infinity War worked because we had no idea what was going to happen going into it and the handling of Thanos as a character.

The flaws of both Infinity War and Endgame is that the deaths are never something that feels like its going to be permanent. This is bad in Infinity War but infinitely worse in Endgame.

Going into Infinity War, the deaths of Loki and Gamora are emotional due to how they are handled but feel empty the second they kill off T'Challa, All the Guardians and Peter during the snap. Loki's death is also undermined via poor editing choices, Loki being off-screen and then facing Thanos offering up the cube is very suspect. I expect he either used the Tesseract to travel through different Alternate Universes OR the alternate version from the Loki TV series swapped places with him.

Killing off certain main characters via the snap works such as Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch and Falcon. If you kill off several main characters or newly introduced main characters who are the foundation to the franchise they belong to, the believability that it could be permanent collapses.

Up until that point you can see them moving forward as is;
• Thor without Loki
• Captain America without Bucky
• Guardians without Gamora

Even to a lesser extent i can see some people thinking that Black Panther 2 could happen with Shuri taking up the mantle. To a similar extent Spider-man could have in theory been killed off if they had established Miles Morales a bit more in Homecoming. Though after Black Panther, Guardians and Spider-man die in a row you are left with no doubt that the heroes will find a way to reverse things.

Endgame further destroyed any chance the deaths could be permanent via bringing in past Gamora and not specifying the Snap's inability to bring back characters that died via other means making Black Widow's death feel empty.

To an extent Endgame further destroys dread by making the heroes the villains. Hawkeye goes around murdering people due to being depressed, Thor kills a defenseless old man out of anger, Bruce murdered Hulk off-screen, Iron Man basically sacrifices five years because he had a good life (when others are suffering) rather than resetting everything.

It's difficult to feel dread when the most horrific things are being done by the heroes rather than the villains for a majority of the movie - including a willingness to sacrifice or destroy alternate timelines to save their own.

For pacing reasons see why it was cut. Knew Drax would say some cringey quip to Mantis.
