During Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, MTV News caught up with actor Chris Evans, whose leading Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger , before reprising the 'Steve Rogers' role in The Avengers. Dotting on filming the crossover spectacle in New Mexico, bonding with the ensemble cast, and Joss Whedon's directorship, check out the video interview below!

"New Mexico is great!" Evans said "Go there. No, don't," he said, changing his mind. "It's actually not so bad, I really like Albuquerque. "It's going great," Evans said of fiilming under Whedon's watchful eye. "It's not an easy task for Joss to incorporate all these characters, and not only is he doing a fantastic job, but everyone is getting along so well. In my experience, when you do a movie with a lot of big stars, it feels like you work and then you go [home]," he explained. "There's a lot of camaraderie. We hang out together, we spend time together."

"We're stuck in Albuquerque, no one is from there, no one knows what to do, so when we're done with work if we have a weekend, we all go get dinner, grab a drink, go to someone's house," he said. "It actually feels like a team," he added, with a knowing smile. Yeah, we've had a couple [group] scenes," Evans revealed. "I've obviously been excited about being Captain America, but . . . when we did 'Captain America,' you're the only superhero on set. [With] 'The Avengers,' there were a couple days where I came to set and you see Hemsworth — who is a superhero — and . . . you see Downey with the ['Iron Man'] suit, and it's the first time I geeked out a bit."

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

Wow! That interview actually gave me goosebumps. Especially the bit when he asks if they have done any big ensemble scenes together with 'the team' and he says "Yeah. A couple of scenes"

That's what I'm excited for the most, seeing them all at once. 2012 cannot come any faster can it? The Dark Knight Rises who?? Pssst I'm more excited for The Avengers!!

Having thought about the plot of the avengers a bit I am still surprised some casting announcements haven't been made.

Looking where each character is at the end of their respective films surely some people will have to show up to help the narrative.

If Thor is stuck in Asgard due to a broken bifrost bridge doesn't that mean Heimdall will make an appearance?

And if Hulk is still on the run and Stark is helping SHIELD recruit people doesn't that mean General Ross will be needed?

I expect cameos galore in this!! Maybe, dare I say it, a look in for Rick Jones??

You just know that they'll have cut together a completely awesome scene in time for Comic Con... One without special effects, probably, but still something to geek-out over.

The trouble with comic con and The Avengers is that principle photography will still be well underway with little to no postproduction.

Thor had wrapped up for about 3 months by comic con.

I wouldn't expect any amazingly explosive clips. Maybe a scene of them drinking coffee together out of uniform. Mind you even at that stage for me would be enough!!
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 6/7/2011, 9:32 AM
@Orphix: it does seem like it would be needed, but there are ways around it... You simply don't show any of the scenes from Thor's perspective on Asgard, so the audience sees it much the same way that Jane Foster did in "Thor"... Big special effects, and then Thor is there. Or perhaps the Bifrost isn't repaired yet at all, but some other technology summons Thor (say, the Cosmic Cube), and he ends the Avengers trapped on Earth unable to return to Asgard.

Still, even better would be if they had filmed a little scene or two with the Asgard cast while Thor was still being made, ready to drop that into Avengers.

@Orphix

How bought a clip of them all drinking coffee in costume, while also in character. Maybe even with a CG hulk trying to drink from a little coffee cup, while all the other heroes snicker and laugh at him. I COULD SEE IT NOW!
Orphix
Orphix - 6/7/2011, 9:37 AM
@ Chewtoy.

Yep - you certainly only show what you need to in a movie and keep the story nice an tight. But it would be nice to see Thor somehow 'trapped' in Asgard getting all riled up and angry at his inabiilty to help. Especially if he can see Loki as the main cause of it. You wouldn't have to show all of Asgard but it would seem like Heimdal would be veru handy seeing as he is all-seeing.

I also think Gen. Ross is still pretty esential - his links to SHIELD, Banner and the contemporary Super Soldier Program would make him pretty useful (narratively speaking).
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 6/7/2011, 9:38 AM
@Orphix again: Captain America had just begun filming and they still managed to piece together a pre-transformation Red Skull scene to show the crowd. Marvel Studios knows how to get good buzz going from Comic Con. You're right though... By a scene "without special effects" I meant one where none were called for... Drinking coffee is fine by me... Even better if the scene ends with the phrase "Avengers assemble!"

@ Intruder.

Absolutely! In fact the more I think about it, it is kind of obvious that they will be well aware of comic con and try and sort out something specifically for it.

Especially when you consider that had Cap footage only after a few days shooting AND introduced the cast there last year.

lol they showed a scene from cap in last years comic con and that had only been shooting for a week. They'll definitely show some footage, just the avengers gathered in one place is enough it doesn't have to be explosive scene or action scene, a scene of them meeting is more then enough to create a buzz.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there is a teaser in front of CAP, with mostly footage of the lead up movie and bits of some new footage. I'd be completely happy with that but we know MARVEL will bring their A game to comic con.
